Home safe at last, with Alice in tow.

So as most people probably noticed, I spent the last several days in Seattle, Washington. Why did I go to Seattle? Well, it let me spend time with my beloved Vixy and Tony, meet Cat Valente for the first time -- an important introduction, given that she's going to be staying with me later in the month -- hang out with SJ Tucker and the fabulous K, do an author photo shoot with Ryan, and talk venison with Dimitri. I even got to join Kitten Sundae for two numbers during their Saturday night concert (Vixy and Tony's "Thirteen," and my own "Evil Laugh"). But none of these things were the point of my trip.

No, the point of my trip was seeing Betsy and Dave Tinney, the owners of Pinecoon Maine Coons. Dave is the Master of the Salad of Doom; Betsy is, in addition to being one of my favorite wicked girls, and a subject-matter expert for the ballroom sequences in Discount Armageddon, the cello player for Tricky Pixie and Kitten Sundae. They're wonderful, enjoyable, delightfully multi-talented people...

...and they had my kitten. Alice -- short for Alice Price-Healy Little Liddel Abernathy McGuire (points if you can source all the names). A blue classic tabby with white, Alice is my first Maine Coon. We flew home this morning, and while she wasn't an angel on the plane, she wasn't a devil, either. She only cried during takeoff and landing, and is now merrily exploring the room, having had a snack, a drink, a nap, and an exciting adventure with the pumpkin-fucker orange cat tree.

I have two cats again.

Because Lilly and Alice are "unusual breeds" for many people, despite being gorgeous representatives of two of the most popular breeds of cat in the country (the most recent rankings put the Maine Coon at number two, and the Siamese at number three), they now have their own page on my website, giving a breed overview as well as a quick overview of the cats themselves.

They've met briefly, and while they weren't immediate soulmates or anything, they also didn't attack each other. So I'm calling it a win for now. We're home, we're safe, and the world is good.

Yay.

I think I've got all of the names placed except for Abernathy. Help a clone out?

I have a lilac point Siamese named Lily-Bugg! Lily for short. She is a a crabby princess (thus the nickname 'bitchers') Hee! I also have a seal point Siamese, named Purrsha Piperwykett, or Piper for short. She's a tom-boy and kind of naughty. And then lastly, a half Persian/half farm cat boy, named Maddox. He's a sweet heart, if not a little spooky.

I'm glad to hear that Alice has joined your family! It's good that your Lilly has a new friend and sister. :-)

Hooray for Siamese! The finest of all the pointy pointy pointy breeds.

Although Alice is pretty damn awesome. I think the Maine Coon has stolen my heart.
I am greatly amused at the fact that my Duke is like a blend of your two kitties. He has no tail, save for a nub, he's very vocal and "talks" with me, he is the size of a small whale, and he is fluffy grey and white in a pattern very similar to Alice.

Our cats are made entirely of fuzzy win!

Also, I'm glad to here they didn't go nuts when they saw each other. My other two babies, Toaster and Little Owl, have a loathing for each other that cannot be properly expressed. They have to sleep on different sides of me at night to keep me from waking up bleeding. Happily enough, they both adore Duke, so they get their quality snuggling time with him in turns.
They're still getting along pretty darn well. I remain guardedly hopeful for peace.
LOVE the Alice icon. So cute! Glad you're both home safe & sound.

And now I want a kitten...
I want my kitten to stop chasing Lilly up the cat tree. Perhaps one of us will get what we want...
I can totally source all those names. I'm kind of astonished at myself.

Hi, Alice! I hope you are happy and awesome and that Lilly does not eat you!
She is happy, awesome, and uneaten!
they now have their own page on my website, giving a breed overview as well as a quick overview of the cats themselves.

But when will they have their own ljs?
I vote for "when they learn to type."

Oh, she's adorably sweet. *keeps fingers crossed that Lilly and Alice will be really friends some day*
They aren't attacking each other, which is an excellent sign!

Yay! :) & *fingers crossed* for a growing frienship between the two, who are both adorable. I am rather taken by the maine coons...
I'm still a Siamese girl at heart, but I've decided I can be polycatorous.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
Awwwwwww!

And here's to hoping that they learn to get along. I have a tortiemese (she looks like an applehead that stumbled into a vat of tortoiseshell paint) who doesn't get along with any other animals. But maybe that's just the tortie-tude making itself known.
They seem to be doing pretty well so far. I have hope.
Teh kewt kittehs pix iz KEWT!!1!1!!! Want!

(Nice descriptions of the breeds, thanks. Were Siamese also bred for talkativeness, or did that just come along with the human social aspect?)
It came along with the human social aspect at first, and was bred in from there.
I can totally source all the names.

...I just don't *feel* like it right now.

;)
Of course you can, darling. *pat pat*
As servant to two Maine Coon hybrids, I salute you. They are lovely, lovely cats.

BTW, I just finished loading 55 photos I took at the Saturday night concert to my Flickr account. There are a couple of nice artsy-lighting shots of you in there somewhere; feel free to grab and use them as you please.
I saw! VERY awesome. Thank you for pointing them out!
Welcome home, Alice! I think mostly ignoring each other counts as getting along well for cats :-P
Absolutely.
Your first link is broken.
Fixed!
