Cat pictures, take five.

Well, I'm in Seattle, I have my new kitten, and I have my camera. This means that I have a moral obligation to provide a cat photo post, as failure to do so may get me smacked by a variety of people. Since most of you have never "met" Alice before, I'm starting with my earliest photos of her, and moving on from there. Also, as a special treat for all you dog fans (and Jim Hines fans, and fans of my mother), I'm including the first-ever posted pictures of Smudge.

Onward to the adorable!

January 2nd, 2009. It's time to head for Chez Tinney, hence to spend some time hanging out with Betsy and Dave, and get in some much-needed rehearsal time. "Be careful," people told me. "Betsy's the devil." Apparently, everyone who visits her winds up coming away with a Maine Coon. I scoffed, saying that nothing could win me away from the Siamese.

...did you know that Maine Coons come in blue? Specifically, in this case, blue classic tabby. Because I really needed to be lured into the world of super-sized cats, you see. Meet Alice. Tiny, blue, and less than three weeks old, which probably explains why she's so tiny.

Even at this age, Alice was definitely determined to stand up for herself. And to stand up by herself if at all possible. Wobbly, tiny, adorable. I admired, I was tempted, and I returned to California, returning at the beginning of February to discover...

Betsy had been feeding the kittens Miracle-Grow. Also running them regularly through the dryer. FOOF.

Here's Alice with one of her siblings, a more "ordinary" brown tabby. Let me tell you, there is nothing "ordinary" about any of Betsy's cats. Jane -- Alice's last remaining littermate -- has been trying to convince me all day that I want to take her home.

There was no way in this world that I was going to be able to resist that face. Just saying.

This picture was taken earlier this morning, showing Alice and Jane all cuddled up together on one of the kitten room cat trees. Her eyes are almost done changing color, and her coat is just absolutely gorgeous. I love my kitten so hard.

Profile shot!

There is almost more tail than cat.

So that's Alice, everybody, latest addition to my household. Isn't she gorgeous? Now, for all you goblin fans out there, I present...

Smudge.

Smudge! Also, my collection of Halloween pillowcases. It's epic.

Such a profile.

Smudge and my mother. She's so happy to have her puppy, and the puppy is so happy to have her.

Spring is everywhere.

Oh my gosh. Kitten is the fluffiest. Puppy is pretty cute himself, but nothing can compete with a kitten that fluffy.
Smudge and Alice are currently just about the same size. This state of affairs is going to last longer than the norm, on account of SUPER-SIZED CAT.

No, I would not like fries with that.
OMG, I don't know if I can stand Teh Cuteness.
I get to take Teh Cuteness home with me. I am the luckiest girl alive.
OMG with the cuteness!
It burns, right? It's the adorable OF DOOM.
Cuuuuuuuute kitty!!
You'll have to come and meet her.
Maine coons are fantastic, no? Hopefully she'll like being brushed ;)
Betsy socializes really, really well; she's already learning to be brushed, and have her claws clipped.

The kitties are adorable indeed. And Smudge is too cute! I can't let my wife see this, or we'll end up with a third dog in the house...
...you would have to pry that puppy out of my mother's COLD DEAD HANDS, Jim. Promise, there's no concern. (Although she did have littermates...)

dead of cute!

(truth - I squeed at the pics enough that our puppy came in running to see find the puppy/kitty. heh.)
That = AWESOME.
SO pretty and fluffy. Are these the kitties that were in the video Vixy posted? And are they named after the heroines in "Wicked Girls?"
They are the kittens from the Vixyvideo! And no, actually -- Jane's full name is "Calamity Jane," and Alice was cattery-named "Ado Annie." I changed it when it became official that she would be mine.

This is the "kill you with cuteness" post, it's true.
How can you sleep with pillows that loud?

oh and yay kitty.
Not pictured: my bright orange pillowcase with the glow-in-the-dark ghosts printed all over it.

Ok, those are some seriously cute kitten pics. We got our Maine Coon full grown so we missed that smaller sized explosion of floof stage but boy have I seen those expressions on ours :-)
I can't wait to see how her adult coat decides to come in.
Oh my, death by cuteness *iz ded*
Cute and deadly.
What a wonderful dog!!

The kittens produced more squee, but the puppy is more exciting for being so strange and beautiful. :D
She's definitely a gorgeous puppy. Mom is just thrilled.
Man, fluff and cute for miles!
She's gonna sheeeeeeeeeeeeed...
*brainmelt*
*giggle*
Oh WOW!

I'm beginning to wonder if Mario (my newest) isn't part Maine Coon. I've never given it any thought beyond "long hair, but wrong face and body shape to be a Persian and wrong color to be Himalayan." He is big, though.
Big cats are big.
First off, yep, that's a Coonie, alright. They're all unique individuals, but they're still all fuzzybutts and furbrains at heart. The similarities in the poses Alice took for her photos and those taken by our Coonie, Oliver, are remarkable.

Secondly, she's utterly and without a doubt huge. Barring something unusual, she looks like she's on track to be big even for a Maine Coon.

Thirdly, and said in as mature and intellectual a way as possible: DOGGIE!!! So cute!
Oh, the fluffbrain is a Maine Coon trait? We thought it was because ours was the runt of the litter from an undernourished mama. (100% Maine Coon, and <7 lbs while pregnant.)

Fluuuuuuuuuffy!!!
Exceedingly so.
Oooo, one of my kitties is either Maine Coon or a MC cross -- and yes, there is nearly more tail than cat there! (We call him Ivan Vorcatril, Ivan the Tailable, Ivan-sama, and many other things indicating his magnificence. In return, he lets us pet him and eats tithed pieces of muffin.) Alice is lovely, and Smudge is cute!
I'm happy.
Iz ded uv teh kute
*must get me one of those next time I aquire kitteh*
I am a huge fan of pedigree kitteh. It means I can meet the parents, and get an idea of genetic heritage.
Oh, so much cute!
The cute delights me in all ways.
*ADORABLE!*
*glee*
Fluff... fluff... OMG, FLUFF.

So cute.
Tell Gabe he's finally safe from threats of abduction.
She FURSPLODED! Here's hoping Lilly likes her...

In these photos, the cats all look like they're about to cry. But smudge totally has a "dude, seriously, get over yourself" facial expression ;-)

Thanks for sharing them with us, and have a lovely day! :-)
She and Lilly have an uneasy detente thus far. I'm hoping it improves.
