Just call me little Miss Nowhere at all...

So my access to LJ is getting worse in some exciting ways; the landing page is now so scrambled that I can't find the 'log out' button, and access to comments is practically impossible. (Previously, I could answer them, just with a measure of exquisite slowness. Now there is no answering of anything at all.) Assume that I am down for the count until you hear otherwise. More importantly, assume that I absolutely will not see anything posted only and exclusively to Livejournal. Figuring 'oh, she knows' and carrying on your merry way is now officially a good way to cause confusion, because I do not know at all.

(Ironically, I can still post, although the posting page looks like it was coded in 1995. I'm having some vicious flashbacks. It's distressing.)

We have an Amy McNally all safe and sound and totally passed out on the couch. Her flight was delayed. Worse, her pickup was delayed, since Fishy -- who was originally planned to retrieve her, while the rest of us attended rehearsal in a fairly remote location -- came down with food poisoning, and we had to redirect her to a shuttle. But everybody's here now, and everyone's safe and alive. And I'm not even tormenting the unconscious.

Time to get to work on The Brightest Fell, but I wanted to make sure people were aware that for right now, if you want me, email me. It's seriously the only way to be sure.

If you need to log out, try http://www.livejournal.com/logout.bml

The sitemap's here: http://www.livejournal.com/site/

From the weird and exciting symptoms you're describing, it's possible that somehow you aren't getting the stylesheets, which are on p-stat.livejournal.com rather than www.livejournal.com, livejournal.com, or any of the other fun and exciting subdomains.

And in that case, you may be interested in the Mobile bits of the site, like
http://www.livejournal.com/mobile/ and especially http://www.livejournal.com/mobile/friends.bml which is the absolute most stripped-down a friends page can get.

Or it could be something completely different causing problems, in which case your guess might be as good as mine.
AWESOME.
It was actually a DNS issue causing the problems. Technically, it's still a DNS issue, but we've found a kludge that allows me to at least get here.
Hosts file hackery?
Yup.
There must be something to having one of the oldest stylesheet formats in creation that is keeping my interface stable. I am not experiencing half of the strange the rest of my friends are - and while I am this sick? It's a good thing. But while I can't be of much help here - other than to let you know that yes, this IS the primary medium I have of communicating with you - it's worth a few clock cycles to try something.

If you think it's worth trying, I can give you my parameters to see if it helps any.
That might explain. I still have the original stylesheet as well, didn't like the newer versions, and I didn't have any trouble yesterday or today,
All you lucky people, with your functional styles...
Does that make your style non-functioning or dysfunctional?
Given that this is me, both.
It appears to be something with our internet connection, actually. LJ is screwed up for me too, when I'm at home (where Seanan is staying) but is totally fine from my computer at work.
Tony made it go! I love Tony.
I've got things worked out; it seems to be a local DNS problem.
Blast those pesky domain servers!
Our load balancing isn't.
There was a lot of strange style stuff going on last night and then the site went down for "emergency maintenance" for a while, so it's not just you.
LJ needs to stop being crazy, yo.
