Come one, come all, to the latest iteration of the Traveling Circus and Snake-Handling Show!

So I am utterly delighted to be returning to Borderlands Books in San Francisco, California this coming Saturday, March 25th, where I will be celebrating the release of Magic For Nothing alongside the fabulous Mishell Baker, who is celebrating the release of Phantom Pains. In my case, that's the new InCryptid; in her case, it's the new Arcadia Project; in both cases, it's guaranteed to be a good time.

With two authors and double the word-y goodness, we're not bringing the full band this event (also, we accidentally scheduled it on top of Consonance, which means most of the band is busy anyway). We will have a raffle, and if the cupcake place gets back to me, we'll have cupcakes (no answer as yet). On the off chance that we don't, remember that the cafe sells delicious baked goods, and would be happy to hook you up with something yummy.

The event will begin at 5pm. If you can't make it, please contact the bookstore ahead of time to place an order for a signed, personalized book: we're happy to hook you up. I'm collecting raffle prizes and packing my bags, and I can't wait to see you all!

I want to moan about the dead tree editions coming first. I resent the heck out of the fact all your books come out in paperback first. It's intensely irritating to find out, hey look, this author I like has released a new book and oh, nope, I can't read it now. I have to wait for the dead tree edition to arrive in the post. Assuming I'm still willing to pay for the India-ink-printed-on-processed-rags-and-wood-pulp version, which these days I am not. I don't like walking across the room to get a DVD off the shelf anymore, let alone waiting for it to load and get past those stupid, self defeating unskippable ad's those cruddy old things all have before the movie. I love the fact I can carry half my library on my tablet. I love the fact I can search, find and read damn near EVERY BOOK EVER WRITTEN with sixty seconds of searching.

seriously, why no love for E-books? I can't even pre-order Magic for Nothing on Amazon. I love pre-ordering books, although another fine whine is why does everything get released on a Tuesday, when I don't have time to read it? what's wrong with Friday?

I am a traditionally published author. This means I have absolutely no control over any of the things you've named (although in the United States at least, the paperback and ebook editions are released on the same day: anyone who has a paperback before release day has not been given a treat, they have broken the rules). All you've done is made me feel bad about things I can neither influence nor control.
