On the sixth day of Hogswatch, your Seanan gave away...

...a signed copy of Indexing! Win this awesome tome for yourself, for a friend, or for a local library!

Welcome to the sixth of the Thirteen Days of Hogswatch. I will be starting a new giveaway every day between now and December 13th. Each giveaway will have different rules and a different deadline, although all prizes will be mailed on December 30th, because I am bad at going to the post office (and also, I am avoiding the post office as much as possible until that other winter holiday is over).

The sixth giveaway is for a signed copy of Indexing. This is going to be a random number drawing, because as you may have noticed, I am running a bit behind. So...

1. To enter, comment on this post.
2. If you are international, indicate both this and your willingness to pay postage.
3. Name your favorite fairy tale.
4. That's it.

I will choose the winner at 1PM PST on Tuesday, December 13th.

Game on!

ETA: This drawing is now CLOSED.

Commenting from the continental U.S.! Favorite fairytale... oh my. Hm. That's a hard thing, for someone as literary as myself. But I do love the story of the Seven Swans, largely because it inspired an absolutely beautiful novel. Also, if "modern" fairytales count, Neil Gaiman's "The Ocean at the End of the Lane" is stunning.

The Tinderbox. Or The King of Ireland's Son, if that can count...
Commenting from the US because I would love a signed copy of Indexing! My favorite fairy tale has been Sleeping Beauty because that was my favorite Disney movie as a kid, but my growing feminist awareness finds the original story problematic. So now I'm leaning towards more "self-rescuing princess" type stories, like Princess Academy.
I'm not best at "favorite" anythings. Though my favorite fairy-tale-based thing is probably Frozen (which I know is very different from the original fairy tale), I got maybe a teeeeeensy bit obsessed with the song Let It Go.

I am not international.
Favorites are hard, but Beauty and the Beast is pretty great.

Honestly I'm more interested in fairy tales as a common base of well-known stories that can then be altered in interesting ways than as stories in their own right.
Snow White and Rose Red!

(I'm located in the US!)
1. Commenting
2. US based
3. Rumpelstiltskin
4. Wooot!
yay indexing!

favorite fairy tale: Pat Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles.

USA
Hansel & Gretel, because my Mom's name is Greta!
I have both of the ebooks, but i would love to have a hard copy of Indexing! I don't know if this is my favorite fairytale, but I have always found Vasilisa the Priest's Daughter to be interesting. I tend to like the re-imagined versions of fairytales over many of the originals- which is undoubtedly why I like Indexing so much!
Are there any plans to bring out a dead-tree edition of Indexing: Reflections?
I love, love, love Indexing, and currently only have it on Kindle. At this moment, I would say Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairly tale, as at least that "princess" put herself in peril to save her father, and not because she was trying to land herself a prince... Though I've always been super fond of Puss in Boots, too. Argh... Beauty and the Beast. I'll make a firm commitment, for today. ;)
Baba Yaga!
ohh, I'd love a physical version!
I grew up hearing (a variation of) the tale of Raw Head and Bloody Bones. It was my favorite as a kid and I'm still pretty fond of it today.
So this is a comment and my favorite fairy tale.... that is very very difficult! There are so many, but I am very fond of Beauty and the Beast, because there are so many lovely interpretations of the story.
I love anything fairy tale. Cinderella is my favorite, the one where the sisters cut off parts of their feet to fit into the slipper.

Not international.

It's so hard to pick favorite fairy tale! I think probably Goldilocks, if I really had to pick.
Me again!

Australian, and willing to pay postage.

As for my favourite fairy tale? Probably whichever one Ursula Vernon has retold that I've read most recently. My favourite book fairy tales would be Faerie Tale by Raymond E Feist, or Songs of Earth and Power by Greg Bear. In terms of classical fairy tales, I would have to say The Sorcerer's Apprentice due to it's inclusion in Fantasia, and Three Billy Goats Gruff, because those goats are awesome. :)
Have I mentioned lately that I love that you're doing this giveaway? Happy Hogswatch!!!

Favorite fairy tale....hmmm...honestly, traditional (western) "fairy tales" never resonated as much with me when I was younger as the Lakota stories my mother told. She grew up in South Dakota, and my grandfather actually ended up as a blood brother to a Lakota tribe (I wish I knew more of the details). When I think of the stories I heard as a kid, it was a bizarre mix of Iktomi, Anansi, and Brothers Grimm. I guess it's just one of the joys of being a third culture kid.
Happy Hogswatch!

My favorite fairy tale is Beauty and the Beast.
Indexing was my first introduction to Seanan McGuire, and it remains my favorite.

I guess my favorite is "The Pied Piper".
I've always loved Beauty and the Beast - I've seen the original La Belle et Bete in french (love black and white movies), and read some variations (Robin McKinley's was excellent). Looking forward to the new remake, and seeing what you do with it!
Choosing just one fairy tale is so haaaard, but one of my favorite childhood books was a version of East of the Sun, West of the Moon.
