On the sixth day of Hogswatch, your Seanan gave away...

...a signed copy of Indexing! Win this awesome tome for yourself, for a friend, or for a local library!

Welcome to the sixth of the Thirteen Days of Hogswatch. I will be starting a new giveaway every day between now and December 13th. Each giveaway will have different rules and a different deadline, although all prizes will be mailed on December 30th, because I am bad at going to the post office (and also, I am avoiding the post office as much as possible until that other winter holiday is over).

The sixth giveaway is for a signed copy of Indexing. This is going to be a random number drawing, because as you may have noticed, I am running a bit behind. So...

1. To enter, comment on this post.
2. If you are international, indicate both this and your willingness to pay postage.
3. Name your favorite fairy tale.
4. That's it.

I will choose the winner at 1PM PST on Tuesday, December 13th.

Game on!

ETA: This drawing is now CLOSED.

1) A comment!
2) I am in the USA.
3) The Twelve Dancing Princesses.
4) Thank you!
Tam Lin is one of my favorite fairy tales.
I forgot Tam Lin, I can't believe it! Especially not with Diana Wynne Jones Fire and Hemlock, and Pamela Dean's Tam Lin!
Ooh yes I am excited! I am not international.

My favorite fairy tale is The Twelve Dancing Princesses, and has been for years and years
Commenting.
Local.
I adore Beauty and the Beast.
My favorite tale you'll have heard
is Ivan and the Firebird
The hero's a dolt
He's as dumb as a colt
It's the entertainment of the absurd
I was raised on Russian fairy tales, so I think perhaps my favorite is Vasilisa.
Little Red Riding Hood ties with Allerleirauh/Thousandfurs/Donkeyskin/Little Cat Skin. There are so many wonderful tales to choose from, though!
I grew up reading a lot of Norwegian fairy tales, so my favorite is Tatterhood.
We read Indexing and the sequel out loud to our daughter (16 and 18 at the time) as ongoing bed-time stories, but it was from the ebook versions. A hard copy would be great! I'm in the US. 'Favorite fairy tale' is a hard thing to ask - I enjoy aspects of lots of them. Since I'm in a bird mood, let's go with Basile's Raven...
Ysy
Winning would be fabulous.
The Green Knight.
In the US.
Thank you.
Ahhh, I loved Indexing (if it isn't too late to enter)
Favourite fairytale is a really tough one! I love them all but I'll go with the Snow Queen :).

International (Germany), willing to pay postage!
Happy Hogswatch! I'm in the USA. My favorite fairy tale is a hard, there's so many good ones. Today I think my favorite is the Three Billy Goats Gruff. Maybe because I'm hoping the Hogfather will bring me some yarn made from cashmere goat hair to knit while I read my copy of Indexing, that I'm hoping to win.
Indexing, yay! I am going to say Hansel and Gretel, 'cause the girl saves the day.
Not international.
Toss up between Sleeping Ugly and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. I prefer my fairy tales fractured.
I cannot remember the name of my favorite, only that it was about a giant with a huge walled garden, when I was small. Beyond that, I do have a fondness for Beauty and the Beast.
Ooo... tough call. I think I'd have to go with Beauty and the Beast.

(International, happy to pay for postage).
I'm in Aussieland and would be happy to pay postage.
After reading Indexing, I'd have to say "Snow White" would be my favourite fairy tale.
Amy
I apologize if this is posted twice, McAffee seemed to not like me for a few minutes.

Beauty & the Beast, because of Robin McKinley's two versions (Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast and Rose Daughter)

Snow White because of Neil Gaiman's "Snow, Glass, Apples".

Sleeping Beauty because of Robin McKinley again (Spindles End).

Donkeyskin, again with Robin McKinley (Deerskin)

If you are seeing a pattern here that from the Grimm's to Disney, fairy tales bored me, you are absolutely right. Before and after, very good. That time period just a lovely time for bowdlerization and Victorian ideals. (Any second pattern of me being a Robin McKinley fan as well as a Seanan McGuire fan is purely coincidental).

I also loved BOTH Indexings, although the second one made me too mad with frustration and waiting -- after the first two installments, I had to not read anymore until it was complete.

I am international, and will gladly pay for shipping.

Whee
When I was a kid, I loved Snow White and Rose Red, because those girls actually did something to save the prince instead of the other way around

(Canadian, will pay postage)
US. And it's complicated probably some of the odder stuff, If you count Jewish folks takes probably the story of the golum. But if we aren't I have a soft spot for the Six Swans.
Tough to choose my favorite fairy tale, but I'd have to go with Cinderella/Aschenputtel. Happy Hogswatch!
Favorite fairy tale: Tough one -- I tend to like the happy endings in the Disney versions better than the Grimm (aptly named) versions, so maybe Frozen?
