Welcome to the sixth of the Thirteen Days of Hogswatch. I will be starting a new giveaway every day between now and December 13th. Each giveaway will have different rules and a different deadline, although all prizes will be mailed on December 30th, because I am bad at going to the post office (and also, I am avoiding the post office as much as possible until that other winter holiday is over).
The sixth giveaway is for a signed copy of Indexing. This is going to be a random number drawing, because as you may have noticed, I am running a bit behind. So...
1. To enter, comment on this post.
2. If you are international, indicate both this and your willingness to pay postage.
3. Name your favorite fairy tale.
4. That's it.
I will choose the winner at 1PM PST on Tuesday, December 13th.
Game on!
ETA: This drawing is now CLOSED.

My favorite fairy tale? I think it may well be "The Faerie Queen in the shape of a Frog" ("Folk Tales and Fairy Lore in Gaelic and English: collected from oral tradition" by Rev. James MacDougall (1910) ; p. 270) which despite the title is about the midwife who delivers the Queen's child.
There's no grand plot to it, it's an odd incident that happens to an ordinary woman that is in many elements quite inexplicable, but the cat steed of the courtier delights me.
The steed's name is "Piseag Glas" - Grey Kitten.

I have an odd fondness for The Juniper Tree, though ask me a different day and I'll likely give a different answer.

When I was little my mom took my brother and me to the library every two weeks. I usually got the same books over and over because I knew I liked them, and if I got a different book I might not like it and then where would I be?
But anyway, some of the books I got over and over were Andrew Lang's "Colored" fairytale book series: Red Book of Fairy Tales, Blue, Violet, Green, Yellow, Pink, Grey, Crimson, Brown, Orange, Olive, and Lilac.
Meaning I have no earthly idea which is my favorite after all these years! Although "Twelve Dancing Princesses" does stick in my mind.
