When all is lost, look for the final girls.

I usually start these posts with "I am pleased...". I'm not pleased right now. I'm not sure I'll ever be pleased again. Like so many of us, I am sick and scared and sad. I'm wishing I weren't getting so many random apologies from people who found the villain in Feed cartoony and unrealistic, but now find him horrifyingly plausible. I'm wishing a lot of things.

But time passes; the Turtle moves; the work goes on, and my fear and my sadness do not mean I can let y'all miss things you might want to know about. So:

Ahh, how I'd love to read this - as well as Rollind In The Deep.
But 40$ plus international shipping is quite hefty, especially für 112 pages :/

In any case, I hope (for you) that it sells out just as quickly as Rolling in the Deep and brings its readers...uhm...if not exactly joy, then pleasure and/or excitement. (It doesn't read like a particularly joyful story ;) )

Yeah, it's a pickle. They cost as much as they do because they're gorgeous books, as much artifacts as items: extremely high-quality construction, signed, numbered, etc. But that means the prices don't really come down.

The one thing you might do is check with Borderlands Books, in San Francisco, on whether they're planning to stock the title. They can sometimes bring the cost of shipping down a bit, since they're coastal and also doing it by hand, rather than on an institutional level.

I definitely agree, Rolling in the Deep was gorgeous to behold. Other books from them have been similarly gorgeous. It is a hard cost, but worth it in the end.

Oh, I am sure it is well worth the price - and I do love it when books get extra shiny special editions.
Even if I can't 'profit' from it, I am sure it will make others happy :)

I'll keep an eye out for Borderland Books then, thank you for the suggestion.

I ordered it, as an early birthday present for myself. Now I can tell my husband he doesn't have to get me anything, and he'll be too relieved to care what I spent. This was also my strategy for Rolling in the Deep, and it worked well for all parties.

I have one more day of news avoidance (except Biden memes) before heading back into the fray and trying to figure out how to make the world a better place. I've got a Not Straight (her preferred label) kid, and we cried tears of joy together when gay marriage became legal. I've solemnized two gay marriages in the past year and a half. Most of my kids' friends aren't white. I gave myself a week to mourn, and now I just need to find my place to stand.

The novella sounds fantastic. I can't wait to read it! (I'll be on the preorder list as soon as I establish whether any local friends also need copies ordered.)

And ordered! :-) I love your books, and I am so appreciative that you're so prolific. I feel like I'm never without a good book.

But on the other hand you're the main reason my annual book budget has increased by so much!! In any case, I'll be at one (or both) or your UW Bookstore signings, where I will be purchasing several more books for myself, and as holiday gifts.

I just saw the cover art for Final Girls and it's so unbelievably beautiful (and terrifying) I'm going to lose my mind. I also read the excerpt and I want you to know I feel as though I've been punched in the emotional face. Don't mind me, I'll be sobbing in a corner over imaginary people I haven't really met yet.

The things you do with words never cease to amaze me.

Last night, when I told a friend that Pence was one of the fundies who maintain that it's an insult to God to not use up all of the resources before the world is destroyed, she thought I was joking. There's a downside to having a habit of joking by saying absurd things with a deadpan delivery. And those people are so absurd. Except... one can't laugh, under the circumstances.
