ONCE BROKEN FAITH open thread!

To celebrate the release of Once Broken Faith, here. Have an open thread to discuss the book. Judging by the comments I'm seeing, some of you have had time, and I'd really, really rather book discussion (sometimes including spoilers) didn't crop up on other posts.

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS.

Seriously. If anyone comments here at all, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. So please don't read and then yell at me because you encountered spoilers. You were warned. (I will not reply to every comment; I call partial comment amnesty. But I may well join some of the discussion, or answer questions or whatnot.) I will be DELETING all comments containing spoilers which have been left on other posts. No one gets to spoil people here without a label.

You can also start a discussion at my website forums, with less need to be concerned that I will see everything you say! In case you wanted, you know, discussion free of authorial influence, since I always wind up getting involved in these things.

Have fun, and try not to bleed on the carpet.

I love this series ... every installment is better than the last! And it feels like every re-read I do starting back at Book 1, I pick up things I missed.

So it's entirely possible I missed this. But: whatever happened to the King of Cats being able to die and get better?

I know it's happened before (most recently when Chelsea ported from the Fire Kingdom through the Court of Cats and turned our favorite feline into a crispy king) and I know there are limitations, like if he dies on the Shadow Road he doesn't come back (mentioned when Raj's father made that assassination attempt) but I don't recall it ever being said he'd used up all of his lives ... so why did he and Toby immediately think he was going to die, permanently?
Toby doesn't know how many lives he has left, and he hasn't told her. For all we know, Tybalt may be on #9.
Tybalt stated in Late Eclipses that Kings and Queens can come back from injuries that would kill one of their subjects or them before they became King or Queen but that the number was not 9, and that it would be worth more than his life to tell the real number.

Toby has said that she doesn't know the number or how many he had lost before they knew each other. While together, he has died at least 4 times, in LE, AoH, CaM, and OBF. Though we do not know if he was using a "life" when Toby saved him in CaM or OBF.
