State of the blonde.

Well, here we go.

As many of you have no doubt heard, through one channel or another, I'm getting ready to move to the Seattle area. The move is becoming increasingly, terrifyingly real, and at this point, I'm not sure I could slow down the process if I tried. (Which is probably a good thing, because let's be honest here: if I thought I could slow down something this stressful, I very well might.)

As part of my prep, I am opening a short-term Patreon called The Toaster Project, which you can read about here. The formal launch will happen in late May/early June, but as physical rewards are limited, I wanted to give all y'all the first crack at claiming them. A banner image and welcome video and all that good stuff will be forthcoming. In the meantime, Tara made me some snazzy welcome images, and also there are cat pictures.

Hooray for cat pictures.

I'm on board with the Patreon thing since my sanity depends on a steady supply of quality new reading material, but while signing up I had a thought.

Have you considered having a public Amazon or other less ubiquitous online retailer wishlist? I was reading an article recently on the psychology of fundraising and it seems that people derive satisfaction from giving concrete things as opposed to abstractions like amounts of money. (Even though cash is often the most effective form of direct aid in many cases.) Just a thought.
I've got an Amazon wish list, and will provide the link to it a) when asked (so I'll say "if you're wondering what you can do to help, here's the Patreon, or you can request this list for housewarming gifts, and Ikea gift cards are VERY welcome"), and b) once I have a new address for things to be sent to. :) The last thing I need right now is more stuff to move.

OH SO VERY THIS

In completely related news, in case you're interested (and once you have time and energy, which I realize may not be for a while after moving) I now livein Seattle and would be happy to get together for food/gaming/hanging out/etc, share what local knowledge I've picked up, and so forth.
Wait, what? You're in Seattle now? How did I miss this? (Ok, never going to cons any more probably played s role. But still.)
Also, me not posting on social media much.
Ahahaha yes. (I also ended up moving unexpectedly under distressing circumstances recently; I had spent less time in the place so had not managed to Accumulate Stuff to great extent, and I was only moving across a city rather than two state lines, so -- I can't even imagine, and sympathy.)

Likewise pledged. Delighted by how well the soft launch is going; I hope that it eases a tough situation as much as it can.
