Verity Price, not a subtle rabbit.

It's time for some free fiction, and for checking in on Verity and Dominic as they continue their trip from New York to Oregon, with plenty of stops along the way. They've weathered their meeting with Rose Marshall remarkably well. So where to next?

The Carmichael Hotel, of course.

"Snake in the Glass" takes us back to Chicago, where Dominic is going to continue meeting the family...whether he likes it or not. Let's just hope Verity can keep him from getting himself into too much trouble.

You can download the new story now from the InCryptid short fiction page. There is currently a problem with the cover graphic on the page: it is smaller than the others. I am aware, and am working to get it fixed, but didn't want to make you wait any longer over something so (relatively) trivial. (ETA: Fixed.)

Big thanks to Will, for emergency last-second eBook conversion, and to Tara, for getting me the replacement cover so quickly.

This also serves as your discussion post.

"Is there anything your family will not marry?"
"I dunno, I'm banging a guy from the Covenant. I think it shows that we're pretty open-minded."

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAH.

Also, what do you expect rogue cryptozoologists who don't have a Thirty-Six Society of people in the know to marry into, buddy?
"Are all Covenant boys secretly romance novels walking around with knives?"

Ditto BWAHAHAHAHAAH and also awwww.
They do have a pretty limited dating pool. At least Antimony is the only Price unspoken for, and she'll probably kill the poor boy the Covenant sends her way before he has a chance to see the light. (Please note, I have only read Blocked, so no spoilers!)
I've only read two of the Antimony stories (still haven't even seen the other collections in stores, sigh) and I really have no idea on her dating preferences, but I'm suspecting she ends up with a cryptid derby girl, just for kicks.

So far the options for dating have been:
(a) (ex-)Covenant
(b) Cryptid
(c) Raised by cryptids (unlikely to find a lot of those)
(d) Thirty-Six Society members (not that many in America)
(e) Circus performer who's not fazed by weird (really not too common any more)

What the heck else is there? Hm.....

I just got Glitter & Mayhem from the Amazon Kindle store, and I believe they have the other anthologies as well, in e-book and print editions. As for your list...,

The only thing I can think of is half-cryptids, like Artie. I do find the concept of (c) to be very intriguing. The Price siblings almost fall under that category themselves, but not quite. But here we're looking at a cryptid take on Mowgli almost, though probably not quite so feral. It would certainly make for an interesting character, I think.

And (e) ... *sob*
So sweet! I love good romantic interlude.

But I gotta know--did she order the mice Chicago-style pizza?
Oh, Dominic!

He's learning.
thank you, this was lovely!
Yay! New story! Thank you!
Thank you for more Dominic and Verity (and Dominic backstory!). And Happy Birthday.
Thank you so much for this.
I have always been fascinated by snakes and I'm so glad you went back to the Carmichael!

also - the gorgons take the name of the family they're living with.

And they seem to treat the humans the same way:
The Oceana is very powerful but she went to live with her man, he is the head of household.

Covenant boy (swoon) is very dangerous, but he very definitely left his home and is moving in with his woman. So, she is the head of household.

Eventually. If they ever get home. (OOOHHH there's a bakery over there with the best cookies, you'll never believe who the baker is)
