On the thirteenth day of Hogswatch, your Seanan gave away...

...a MYSTERY.

Welcome to the last of the Thirteen Days of Hogswatch. Each giveaway in this year's extravaganza has come with different rules and a different deadline, although all prizes will be mailed on December 30th, because I am bad at going to the post office (and also, avoiding the post office until that other winter holiday is over).

The thirteenth, and last, giveaway is for a MYSTERY ITEM of some kind. What will it be? No one knows! Not even me. This is going to be a random number drawing, because why I said so. So...

1. To enter, comment on this post.
2. If you are international, indicate both this and your willingness to pay postage.
3. Tell me one thing you hope the prize is. (ETA: Please only ask for things I might actually have. I can't give you a new job or world peace. I wish I could.)
4. Tell me one thing you hope the prize is not.
5. Tell me why the RNG should pick you.

I will choose the winner at 1PM PST on Sunday, December 20th.

Game on!

Comment, comment, here comes another comment! This comment really would love the surprise to be one of your CDs, or that special sneak copy of Chaos Choreography. I hope it's not a main book already published in your three main series, since I have them all, and while I would love an autographed copy, I'd rather see them go to people who don't have copies of their own. Or I wouldn't want a surprise box full of road kill. That would be bad. And the generator should pick me because a friend and I have adopted Aeslin mice as our spirit animals, and we do mouse cheers for each other when support is needed. :)
1. Comment!
2. USA
3. I hope the prize is something Toby related? Because of all of your writing I've read, I do like that series best.
4. Something living.
5.The RNG should pick me, because it so seldom operates in my favour, under any of the circumstances in which I've seen it, so it's about time? If not, I know it will make someone happy!
Okay. International and willing to pay postage.

What I would love, above all else is a rose-goblin design for me to get tattooed on my arm. I love roses and cats, and that made me mad for your rose goblins.

I wouldn't want it to be honey, I can't eat honey anymore and that would make me very sad.

Why should the RNG pick me? Well, I think everything you do is gold.
Domestic. (also could possibly arrange in person hand-off.)

I would like the prize to be one of the anthologies in which you appear which I have not read, yet. (Or something purple.)

I would not like it to be a syringe with a note which says 'inject this if you want to live'.

The number generator should pick me because I made it through three concerts, two rehearsals, a memorial service and a meeting this week all while having a horrible head cold and running a fever. (and washing my hands and using alcohol gel and warning people and not touching other people's food.)
1. A wild comment appears!
2. International and willing to pay postage.
3. I hope the prize is either an ARC of Chaos Choreography or a copy of Creature Feature, as I do not yet have either.
4. I hope the prize is not a ball python, as I do not have the tank to care for precious babby snek.
5. The RNG should pick me because it can't resist my kitty's face.
1. Hi! This is a comment!
2. I continue to be from the land down under (can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder). I am willing to pay postage.
3. I really hope the prize is whatever my 'Wicked Girls' bridge line would be if you were singing at a con we were both at.
4. I really hope the prize is not Alice and Thomas' shaved-off fur mats.
5. The RNG should pick me because I regularly wear one of its siblings around my neck (a d20 necklace) and so I feel a certain affinity with random numbers.
I hope the prize is: A set of the Geek Girls Chronicles ("Chicks Dig ...") that you've had essays in. (That said, any single one would be enough.)
I hope it is not: A bag of cat hair large enough to knit a whole new cat. Because you probably *could* send someone this.
The RNG should pick me because I'm humble and lovable. Kinda like Underdog, but without the super energy pill.

1. Commenting!
2. I am in the US.
3. I hope the prize is a CD (though let's be honest, I'm entering just because MYSTERY THING! and so actually have no preference).
4. I really hope it is NOT a box of spiders. (Amending that to "a box of poisonous spiders" because my kid just told me he'd be okay with a box of non-poisonous spiders.)
5. The RNG should pick me to restore my faith in the inherent goodness of numbers. 3rd grade math homework has shaken this a bit.
1) Comment
2) US
3) One of the out of print CDs
4) One of the books I already have (Newsflesh trilogy, all the Incryptids, the first several Tobys)
5) I used to love using the RNG out of California that was based on lava lamps, now that I have to use more boring ones, I still respect the truly random ones that I then have to unduplicate the random numbers before assigning them to the participants in whatever I am using them for. While unduplicating, I try to keep as much of the randomness as possible (I've been known to throw a die to determine which one (odd/even) to eliminate).
I'm international and willing to pay postage! I'd really like it to be a new short story. Or a hug from Alice but I doubt she would consent to being temporarily posted and she'd probably be disconcerted with how tiny one of my cats is. I would not like it to be my very own tapeworm. I have mixed feelings on whether it should be a vial of a new weaponised strain of influenza. It should pick me so I have more to read while I wait for my boyfriend to wake up after one of his night shifts because it's too light in the hallway for me to open the door and escape without waking him.

I am not international. I hope the prize is an anthology with one of the Healy stories in it. I hope it is not a box of spiders. The RNG should pick me because I have faith in it and it should have faith in me.
This has been great fun and I'm commenting just for the fun of it because I actually won something and it's someone else's turn. If I hadn't won anything, I would hope that the prize was an autographed copy of one of your books (not just autographed, but signed to me :) ). I would not want it to be a poster because, well, it's a long time since I was a teenager. I think the random number should land on me because I, I love your work, 2. have recommended it to all my friends, 3. I'm feeling lucky and blessed. (One of my daughter-in-laws is having twins in the spring). But I don't exactly want to win because everyone else should have a chance.
1. Commenting!
2. Although I am international I have a US shipping address for use.
3. Tybalt!
4. A zombie!
5. I don't often enter these but this one has me intrigued. I love a mystery. :)

Domestic!
If I were to win, I would like an ARC of Chaos Choreography. Or I would love to see a previously-unpublished poem, song, or draft snippet that provides insight into a known character, particularly in the Toby Daye universe, posted to Seanan's LJ for everyone to enjoy.
While it could be cool, I do not want a bobcat sent through the mail. There is no one that would be happy with that.
The RNG should pick me because Apples to Apples is really the Family Musical Review when I play it with my mother.
Commenting from the US! I hope the prize is one of the anthologies with a Toby universe short story, because I can't afford to buy them but want to read them! (I have found a couple at the library, but not all of them.) I hope it's not one of the Toby Daye novels, because I have bought all of those. The RNG should pick me because I recommend your work to anyone who might be remotely interested, and I never win these things.

PS - I think it's really cool that you're doing this Hogswatch giveaway, despite the headaches it must cause. I hope your holidays are merry and bright!
I'd like a copy of something that hasn't been released or that I haven't read yet.

I would not like used cat litter.
1, 3. Oh, interesting! Even though you have most of your Newsflesh novellas already available, my wish for the prize would be an ARC of Rise, which Amazon says is slated out next summer (I am giving the trilogy to my older brother for Christmas, so this would be lovely).

4. I dunno, real tapeworms? :P

5. Because I don't have numbers in my username? I dunno.
I hope the prize is a postcard from you.

I hope the prize is not anything I have to feed. (I did learn that you can legally send bees through the mail from my uncle, so I have to be sure here.)

The RNG should pick me because I have 60 final projects to grade by tomorrow at 5.
1. Commenting..
2. Not International..
3. A copy of Chaos Choreography would be AWESOME. Or anything Indexing or Mira Grant as I don't have those yet :)
4. Hope the prize isn't a spider or spider related.. really not fond of spiders..
5. RNG randomly picking me would send me into happy dance mode :D

THANK YOU for sharing such wonderful treats with us!!!

1. I know it's a fish Walls, I said explain it!
2. I am in Canada and willing either to pay postage or borrow a US shipping address from a friend if the expected postage is too dear
3. An art card! A weird art card!
4. An archipelago
5. Because I am not a number, but this post is so it counts! (Just like a sequential number generator).
I hope the prize is a tuckerization into one of your books, or an arc of one of your new books coming out

I hope it's not a hairball

The RNG should pick me because if it is a tuckerization I am always looking on kickstarter and websites of the like to see if I can bid on a tuckerization you've done (since you've done a good deal of them and I'm a huge fan of your work).
I am international and will pay.
I hope the prize is: An ARC or something signed or unique or one of those book cover pendants? (Or something I don't have but that's not very useful)
I hope the prize is not: Something I already have! Something that is expensive to ship! Something that is difficult!
The RNG should pick me because: I'm not it should but if it does I will treasure the Mystery Item always so maybe that's why.
1. Comment!
2. I am in Canada and will pay postage.
3. I hope it's an ARC for Every Heart a Doorway (if you have them already), because I'm deeply impatient.
4. I hope it's not in the Feed-verse because zombies are not my thing.
5. Because I don't want to go and pretend for the whole holidays, and this I wouldn't have to pretend about.
I hope the prize is something related to your art (a book, music, drawing, whatever).

I hope the prize is not an alligator lizard or other critter. Joshua can catch his/her own, it is a rite of passage for small children. (Though honestly, I know you well enough to know you wouldn't subject such to the trauma of shipping who-knows-where or to a household not known to be a good home.)

The RNG should pick me, for I have been keeping to the ways of the dice for decades, and raising my child to do likewise. Joshua has been the designated dice-roller for unfortunate things happening to the party in our D&D sessions since we returned from the Reno Worldcon with dice too large to fit in the child's mouth.
Commenting, I am in USA.

I hope the prize is a signed copy of One Salt Sea, my fave book!

I hope the prize is not a carefully curated collection of cat hair. (Already have one)

Oh RNG, pick me, I'm the most random person you'll ever meet...
