A treat for Toby fans is coming!

So hey, remember how at the end of Chimes at Midnight, Quentin was all "now you get to meet my parents," and Toby was all "OH FUCK NO," and then we got The Winter Long, but we never got to see the meeting?

We're going to get to see the meeting.

"Full of Briars" is a novelette set between Chimes at Midnight and The Winter Long, narrated by Quentin as he faces that most terrifying moment in a young squire's life: the meeting between his parents and his knight. With bonus "how Quentin sees Tybalt" and "how Quentin and Raj interact when Toby isn't around" (hint: they're glorious shits to one another).

"Full of Briars" will have a price point of $1.99 USD/$2.59 CD, and be released in August 2016, a month before the next October Daye book comes out. The cover art is being done by Tara O'Shea, who does the short story covers for my website. (Right now, it is only available in the US and Canada, because of regional rights issues. I have faith in all y'all's ability to get around that without resorting to illegal downloads. Since wow do I want DAW to let me do more of these.)

Quentin!

Glee.

Congratulations,

Are there going to be physical copies of either the book or the CD available as it is a lot easier to buy physical things from the wrong reason.
There are currently no plans for either a physical or an audio release of this short story. Hopefully, if it performs well enough, I can eventually convince DAW to do a short story collection to tie into the Toby books. Until then, there will be no physical edition.
Oh!Oh!Oh! An anthology?! -

Dear Great Pumpkin (or DAW directors): I have faithfully bought all of Seanan McGuire's books through appropriately legal and taxed methods. We fans have, in the vast majority, been good participatory capitalists! Please reward our appropriately-exercised demand with even greater supply!
Best comment ever. :)
Thanks. Admittedly, I should have also said "I do so solemnly pledge to purchase this e-edition so as to prove continued demand." as well, or some such. Because YAY for more stories!

And I do want to emphasize that this is not to put pressure on our Beloved (and Feared) Author, because she can't make hardcopies or anthologies magically appear. This is just one more piece of wish energy released into the world to hopefully land in the DAW offices somewhere.
Best
Oh, I've been hoping for one of those for ages! An anthology of all the Toby stories, or at least as many as you can fit in it, that is. Sort of like Jim Butcher did with "Side Jobs" a few years ago. It's so hard to collect all kinds of anthologies, and so easy for them to pass under the radar. If you ever released them all in a collection, I would so be all over that in a second!
It's not up to me; it's all on my publisher. So let's keep those book sales good, so that eventually they'll give me the green light!
Oh, I know. I was just saying I would love it if it ever happened. :)
Hopefully, if it performs well enough, I can eventually convince DAW to do a short story collection
