Welcome to the fifth of the Thirteen Days of Hogswatch. I will be starting a new giveaway every day between now and December 13th. Each giveaway will have different rules, and a different deadline, although all prizes will be mailed on December 30th, because I am bad at going to the post office (and also, avoiding the post office until that other winter holiday is over).

The fifth giveaway is for copies of The Winter Long and A Red-Rose Chain (October Daye #8 and #9, respectively). Because these are later books in the series, I ask that you please not enter if you haven't read the earlier books; I would feel terrible for spoiling you. This is going to be a random number drawing, because I'm about to leave for my Borderlands event. So...

3. Name your favorite Toby character.

Wow. One favorite character? That's tough. I love them all. But if I have to choose, I'd say May & Tybalt are tied for my favorite.

I am indeed in the US.

I've discovered that I have "a type" and oh, sweet Titania, Sylvester Torquill is it. Part of this is probably due to the way Mary Robinette Kowal voices him, but mostly it is himself - aging, badass father-figures who aren't perfect but sure do try.

Though the Luidaeg comes close, because she's just so cranky and she cares so much underneath it.

Comment! My favorite character is probably a tossup between the Luidaeg and Tybalt. Because they're both big badass leaders who have weak spots that could kill you if you poke them.

I love most of the Toby characters, so this is really hard.. I probably love Toby the most but then there's the Luidaeg, Dianda, May, Quentin, Tybalt.. I'm international and willing to pay postage :)

My favorite Toby character is definitely Tybalt (although the Luidaeg is a very close second). I cannot help but love a Shakespeare nerd.

What a hard choice, there are too damn many characters in the Toby books that I absolutely love! So I'm going to go with the one who I aspire to be, in personality: Danny.

So many awesome characters to choose from, so I think I'll go with one not yet mentioned: Spike.

Quentin is a close second, but Spike wins by the virtue of filling a near-unique niche.

And I am an international fan (Australia), and as stated above, would not only be happy, but ecstatic to pay international postage on the off chance that my number comes up.

I think I'm caught up on Toby - well, not either of these yet, but up to them. If not and I win I'll get the missing one post-haste. US (pretty close to you, actually! SF Bay Area).
Ugh. I have to pick _one_? Toby, May, Tybalt...I think I have to pick Toby, though, for more reasons than I can say.
