INDEXING: REFLECTIONS episode #5, "Sleeping Beauty."

The fifth episode of Indexing: Reflections is available now! This is your talkpost and discussion zone. There will be spoilers in the comments here. As always on talkposts, I have partial comment amnesty, and will not be responding to everything.

"Sleeping Beauty" is a first for the Indexing series, if not for my work as a whole: it's a POV change, as our original narrator is unavailable. I hope you'll like our new one.

Once upon a time...

I love that this episode is from Sloan's point of view. I'd wanted more of her. I hope some day she gets an entire book.
This week's story was fantastic as always and I love Sloane.
The real reason im posting is to make aure you have seen this Seanan. http://ihorror.com/horror-icons-playing-with-cats-will-warm-your-heart/ It's some of your favorite things all in one place. It made me think of Velveteen and her current visit to Fall and the land of Halloween.
That would be so fun.
I haven't even opened it yet and I am so stoked, hoping that Sloan is our narrator for a time! She is almost The Luidaeg of Indexing... I just love cranky women who threaten murder.

You have no idea how much I look forward to the releases.
Me too! I don't know why.
I love Sloane. I wanted to know more about her, and here you give me a nice bit of her backstory and an episode from her point of view, and a walloper of an episode it is, too. Thank you!

And have I mentioned how much I love Sloane?
Brava, Seanan, brava. You had me totally sold; after seeing DD Brewer through Henry's eyes for so long, I was convinced he was a sniveling paper-pusher that was just occupying space that would have been better used for a shrub. Then bang! You provide a new perspective through Sloane and a deeper look into him, and I almost cried. I feel sympathy for him now, and even respect.

It was great to see Ciara again, and really begin to get to know her. I loved her explanation for why she always follows the rules. That probably explains her driving as well, because traffic laws are rules too. Running a stop sign when the intersection is clear might be harmless for the rest of us, but it puts her one step closer to that door she isn't supposed to open. I imagine it's also why she isn't a field agent. Henry has shown time and again that sometimes you have to break the rules to save lives, but Ciara can't do that, not if she wants to save her own. I liked her in the first chapter, and I like her even more now. I am also very, very afraid for her.

Finally, yay for Sloane as narrator! We finally get to see what I've suspected all along; she's really a very caring person inside. If she wasn't, she would have succumbed to her story long ago. It's a shame the rest of the team, especially Henry, can't see inside her as we have.

A wonderful, powerful chapter. Thank you so much, I can't wait for the next installment!
YES. The reveal on DD Brewer stunned me in the very best way.

Seeing things from Sloane's POV has been awesome. (Except for, you know, the reason why we're not seeing them from Henry's POV. If I call that awesome, even accidentally, Sloane might find some way to break the fourth wall and hurt me, and Sloane knows how to really hurt someone....)
YAYAY! *kermit arms*
Sing along if you know it: craaaaaap.

I loved loved loved getting another chapter from Sloane's point of view. I just adore her. I wish this thing with Elise would show her a way to change her own story/ find peace at last. (If only.)

Thank you once again for your wonderful stories, Seanan!
SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOANE!!!!

All the hints of backstory! The Director Brewer backstory! Bloody Mary! CIARA AND THE RAPIER!

This was GREAT. I'm loving this so much. I thought it was going to be torture to wait for the episodes (I purchased INDEXING as a completed book), but it's actually really fun- both because I get time to flail and theorize and because it's like a whole new book every other week.

This series is so great. Thank you!
I know it's from the previous episode, but it's still driving me nuts - what's a 138-1? I went looking online and the index available there goes up to 137 and then skips a bunch!

It was cool to get more Sloane backstory.

My husband keyed me in on the Bloody Mary story, I didn't know that one. To me, when he said Bloody Mary I thought he was talking about the Catholic queen of England, Eliz. the first's half sister. So I had to go look it up and read on it.
I sadly don't have access to my physical Index right now, but if you go to your local library, they should have it.
This is my favorite chapter in Indexing ever so far. Sloane forever! Also, backstory reveals! Woot!
I absolutely can't wait for this to come out in the print version - I loved the first volume!

(Amazon/Kindle stuff doesn't work for me, or I'd be subscribed already)
It took its time updating, but I blame spotty Internet for that. *thwaps connection*

And it was 110% worth a bit of a wait! So many backstory hints for Sloane and Brewer. Delicious. And more Ciara! I was wondering when we would see her pop in again. But wait, a Bloody Mary reference? I am so intrigued right now.

And in case I didn't mention it, I love Sloane. I love her even more after this episode. It's funny, because she's not someone I would get along with at all in real life...but she is so well done as a character, she grew on me quickly and now she's my fave.

Well done, as always! I'm already excited for the next episode!
