Fun with old ARCs.

I am cleaning my living room, and I found more old ARCs! These are books that have already been released (mostly Pocket Apocalypse, since I was in the UK during the last few weeks before release, and that's when I usually really ramp up the giveaways), but are still good for craft purposes. So:

If you are a crafter or someone who enjoys making things out of paper, and would like to claim an ARC, please drop me a line through my website contact form. The ARCs themselves are free, but postage is $6 to US addresses (I will not ship a "chop this up" ARC outside the US unless you have a project special enough to justify the greatly increased postage costs; I've had people make paper roses for wedding bouquets, for example, which counts). Don't send money until we've corresponded, since I want to make sure I don't promise more ARCs than I actually have.

Any ARCs that are still unclaimed as of June 5th will be recycled, for the sake of my shelves.

I know how charity auctions work, I promise. "Here is a random ARC of book four in an ongoing series, which has been out for over a year," not such a good reward. It looks sort of like, well. I was cleaning out my living room.

I've sent you a note in the format you requested. I love making things, and I'll read the book first!
I'm sort of hoping not? When I do craft giveaways, it's to have the books destroyed; I really, really hope you'll still buy the finished book if you get an ARC, so I can feed the cats. :(
oh you need not worry, my dear writer.
I have to re-buy Rosemary and Rue because I've gifted it to a friend who had only read your FEED trilogy; plus I have to buy the most recent three books of the Toby Daye series that I haven't read yet and also to buy Discount Armageddon etc. I have Velveteen vs. on my tablet.

You rank with Diane Duane and Robin McKinley and Charles DeLint in my Buy All The Things By this Person list. I even have a couple of yours signed via Borderlands, which I just think is dead neat.

I'm doing my bit to Support My Local Authors. I hope to be in the ranks someday. =)
Contact form sent! Thanks!
Keen.
I shrieked when i read this. It frightened the cats. Origami. Yes. Contact note sent.
One book should be enough for 1K cranes, actually; I was calculating 6 squares per sheet for a TPB. I imagine words per page density should be similar-ish for an ARC.

My preferred crane paper size is 3.5 cm square (about 1 3/8 on a side), with the 40 cm size coming in second place. I think the smallest thousand I did was on 1.75 cm. The largest I'm happy to fold is 70 cm square (around 2.75 inches), though I was figuring I might need to go up to 3 inch squares for reclaimed paper, depending on the quality of the paper. I did do 1K out of something like 5 of 6 inch squares, but that was miserable (but for a good friend, so worth it!).

I don't know how many cranes I've folded at this point, but it's well over 20K. I've done 1-2K tiny butterflies (can't remember if that was one or two sets), 2K dogwood blossoms, and 1K irises. :) I was going to do 1K simple Kawasaki roses out of 70mm paper, but that petered out. :/

Cool beans on your husband's folding! Don't let him give up! (The first time I tried I was, like, 8, and stopped in the 300 range. I got in into my head that each crane should be differerent, and spent lots of time coloring paper with crayons and cutting different size squares. Both not good choices, as it turned out.)

Hee yay.
I love playing with resin and would lovingly make it into a variety of fun pieces.... maybe even ornaments and such. i'm US as well, would love one if you end up with enough.
Did you send a note through the website? If so, we should already have set this up.
Sorry, I hadn't... I thought it was more a 'giveaway' kind of thing. I'll be happy to send you a note via the website just in case you ever have extra (old) ARCs that you want used in a crafty way. Thanks!
Obviously since you did spell it out what I needed to do (in your original post)... all I can say in my defense is I must have had a brain tumor for breakfast when I initially read your post and created my reply.

That is awesome.
It reminds me of a paper crane a girl gave me when I was in high school.
Paper cranes rule.
