Second hardship giveaway, take two.

Thanks to the generosity of my readers, we are opening a second hardship giveaway. Note that this is a second attempt at the second giveaway, originally opened in February, and not a third giveaway. Sadly, no winners were drawn in the original second giveaway, because there were timing issues and sometimes I get overwhelmed. Anyway...

What is a hardship giveaway? It's where I give away older books (not ARCs or just-released) to people who couldn't afford to buy them when they came out, and/or can't afford them now. It's an honor system: I believe that you will honor my intent, and only enter if you have a genuine need. Because T-shirt mailing is ongoing, this particular giveaway is only open to people with US addresses. I am so sorry about that, I really am, but a) I can't afford international postage (which is sort of contradictory to the whole "hardship" angle), and b) my postal workers will kill me if I add more international shipping right now.

To enter...

1) Comment on this post, indicating that you have a US address.
2) Tell me what book you are hoping to win. Anything I've written that is not listed below.
2a) Hell, feel free to list anthologies.
3) If you have a second choice, list that.
4) If you list a book which I have explicitly stated I do not have, you will be disqualified.

I cannot guarantee that I have any specific book "in stock," as it were, but I am happy to look.

Books that I can tell you for sure I do not have:

Rosemary and Rue
A Fantasy Medley 2
Ravens in the Library
Glitter and Mayhem

Books that I can guarantee I have:

Half-Off Ragnarok
Pocket Apocalypse
Indexing
The Winter Long
The Mad Scientist's Guide
Rolling in the Deep (two copies)
Indistinguishable From Magic (Cat Valente's essay collection)

I will choose ten winners on Monday, April 27th. They will have twenty-four hours to contact me to claim their prizes. This will be tightly enforced, as I leave for Orlando at the end of the week.

Shoot for the moon!

Hello! My name is Carrie Tatum and I live in the state of Michigan. I recently picked up books 1,2,3, and 6 of the October Daye series at my local library. Unfortunately those are all they currently have although I'm hoping they will decide to order others as I have requested. I especially enjoyed An Artificial Night and Ashes of Honor. The amazing writing of Blind Michaels realm had me unable to put the book down as Toby traveled through the dangers with compassion and determination. Ashes of Honor finally gave me the pairing that I hoped for since their first interaction. I have always been a fan of folklore/mythology and I love the way you develop the races that inhabit your worlds with your own flavor while still keeping to their origin stories. I especially love your development of the Cait Sidhe. I read the books that I got in two days which is even fast for the normal rate that I devour books. I would fall asleep with the book in my hands and wake up with it being the first thing I looked for.

I would love to own all of your books since they are stories that I would reread with enthusiasm. They are definitely books that would join the ranks of taped on covers in my bookshelf from lending out and rereading myself. Since I currently can't afford to add those books to my bookshelf thanks for letting me try my chances at winning some! I would choose Late Eclipses, One Salt Sea, or The Winter Long although any October Daye books would be loved and appreciated.

I will be shameless here and say that it's my birthday on April 27th. I will be 34 and I can prove that if needed. Yes, I know, plugging my day of birth for a contest is terrible but the books are so good that I have to throw in whatever I can to improve my chances! ;) I was happy to be lucky enough that the day of choosing happened to coincide with the day I was born.

Thank you for the worlds you show us and the characters you give us. They are amazing. Have a great night!
