POCKET APOCALYPSE open thread!

To celebrate the release of Pocket Apocalypse, here. Have an open thread to discuss the book. Judging by the comments I'm seeing, some of you have had time, and I'd really, really rather book discussion (sometimes including spoilers) didn't crop up on other posts.

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS.

Seriously. If anyone comments here at all, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. So please don't read and then yell at me because you encountered spoilers. You were warned. (I will not reply to every comment; I call partial comment amnesty. But I may well join some of the discussion, or answer questions or whatnot.) I will be DELETING all comments containing spoilers which have been left on other posts. No one gets to spoil people here without a label.

You can also start a discussion at my website forums, with less need to be concerned that I will see everything you say! In case you wanted, you know, discussion free of authorial influence, since I always wind up getting involved in these things.

Have fun, and try not to bleed on the carpet.

Also possible. I sort of figured at the very least the mice would keep an eye out for infants, so the odds were 50/50 it's a name or referring to some human.

I kind of feel sorry for the nameless mice, but there are probably WAY too many to keep track of for the humans.
Probably way too many in the whole colony. But six isn't very many. Three is even fewer. Not to mention one.

I intend to believe that Alex learned their names offstage.
Pean of Joy
Cat Faber 2015

Learning that werewolves appeared
Alex, our god, did request
Acolytes, trained to observe--
The future is not to be feared
We worship at passion's behest
The gods we have chosen to serve
Every live mouse volunteered!

I am a mouse among mice;
He is a god among gods--
Come be my witness, he asked.
I answered without thinking twice.
What cares a mouse for the odds?
I go where a mouse may be tasked;
He is my pride and my Price.

Chosen by god from the throng--
Sniff out the traitor, the fraud
That is no reason for grief!
I celebrate service in song,
Who rides on the shoulders of God.
The life of a mouse may be brief;
The colony's memory is long.

Great God of Silence, prevail,
As you have promised, hold true,
My memory hold in your mind.
Weigh out my heart in your scale;
Faithful I've offered your due.
History slowly goes blind--
But God will remember me. Hail!
That is beautiful.
