ConNooga is a go!

So as I write this I am in Jersey City, New Jersey, preparing to tear down my computer and head for the airport, where a big metal sky-bird will carry me to Chattanooga, Tennessee, land of the Chattanooga choo-choo, endless Cthulhu parodies, and ConNooga, an awesome media convention with the good taste to ask me to be a Guest of Honor!

My schedule for the weekend:

Friday, 4:00 PM, Room 12: Writing Dialog.
Saturday, 1:00 PM, Room 12: Reading, Q/A: Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant.
Saturday, 5:00 PM, Room 12: Diversity in Fiction: What is it, How to do it, and Why.

I will be in the main exhibit hall a great deal of the time, happy to sign things, meet people, and complain bitterly about the cold.

I hope to see some of you there!

Jersey City is a bit more than a half-hour's drive from me... if I had a car. I'll wave as your plane passes overhead ;-)

You may experience delays, since there's some moderate weather over Newark Airport and between there and Chattanooga. But the big metal sky-birds can handle it :-)

Yay! See you soon, and stay warm! I've got my fingers crossed that all of our snow will be melted by tomorrow, and if not all, then most. :)

I so wanted to go. But Tennessee weather ended up snaring me mandatory overtime all weekend.

I recommend The Hot Chocolatier, which has recently moved closer to the Choo Choo. Really good chocolate stuff. Kirsten makes me bring her stuff from there every time I visit the area. Have fun!

How to do diversity in fic?
I'm so mad that, after all these years (decades?) "diversity in fic" still has to be a thing. It should be mainstream already.
And don't even get me started on the Smurfette Syndrome.

If you have a chance to see the Chattanooga Aquarium, you should definitely do that thing. It's the most amazing aquarium I've ever seen.
