Happy Halloween, Happy New Year.

Happy Halloween, everybody, and Happy New Year's Eve to those of you who share my particular calendar. May the Great Pumpkin smile upon you tonight, bringing you candles which burn brightly, candy that never goes stale, corn mazes as complicated as the twisting choices of the heart, and costumes that are inventive, interesting, and warm enough to keep you comfortable through all the long, dark hours of the evening.

I measure my life from Halloween to Halloween, instead of in candle-ends and coffee spoons. It's odd, but it works for me, and it's been one hell of a year, hasn't it? I left my day job (and still have no regrets; the tighter finances are more than balanced by the fact that I can finally sleep, I can finally be productive; it's amazing). I roved through Europe, eating all the cheese that I could get my hands on (and losing twenty pounds in the process, all hail the lack of high-fructose corn syrup in European breads and deli meats). I announced several awesome projects, and pursued several more.

I buried some beloved friends. I don't know that I'll ever stop wanting to call them, or reach for them. Lilly has joined the legion of cats that I try to cuddle in the middle of the night, when my dreams turn melancholy. Human or animal, I wasn't ready to let any of them go. Yes, death is a part of life, but that doesn't make it hurt any less.

I hope that all of you out there are ready to have a happy Halloween, full of all the thrills, chills, spooks and spills that you desire. I hope that you've had a glorious year, and are looking forward to a wonderful holiday season. Most of all, I hope that you're well.

Thank you for sharing this past year with me.

Happy Halloween!

I'm so glad for you! Congratulations on the amazing new chapter in your life!
Sleep is so important.
Happy New Year, Happy Halloween, and Blessed Samhain! May you have all the pumpkin-based goodies and candy corn that you can eat, and may every ghost that visits you be the helpful kind!

Indeed it has.
It is my honor and deep pleasure to have shared the past year with you and (hopefully many!) years to come. As much as I enjoy your professional works, coming here and getting to read your LJ is a delight and I am ever grateful that you are willing to share so much of yourself.
Thank you. :)
I have not felt the Halloween spirit this year - and it's because I am a very strict diet that doesn't allow for Halloween treats (not even the savory ones I normally make), I can't do any of the Halloween haunts, and the weather has insisted on making me feel like it's been summer.

So tonight I will buy some treats and hope for trick or treaters (we didn't get any last year) and dream Halloween dreams of next year. I too tend to measure time by the month of Halloween, this month has always felt more like endings and beginnings to me then the dead of winter, which only seems to hold endings. I suspect I will feel kind out of time displaced until next year (when I should be able to celebrate with my normal gusto).

So tonight I will think fondly of all the folks for whom tonight will feel like Halloween and know that I too will be able to revel in the celebrations next year. May your Halloween hold all of its old specialness, and I wish you a dollop of my normal Halloween cheer.
Happy Halloween.
Measuring that way makes sense to me. It was the Celtic new year, after all.
Exactly so.

Happy birthday to be!
Happy Halloween, and may the year to come be as sweet, as exciting, as entertaining and as full of love as the very bestest of Halloweens!
May you have the same, my dear.
Happy Halloween! I celebrated traditionally - dressing up in costume and bringing candy to my labmates ^_^ I've done that every year since I can remember, because it is a new year, and sharing sweetness to bring in the new year is something near and dear to my heart. May the candy we receive tonight be a forecast of sweetness to come - and may the Great Pumpkin smile upon us all!

Yay!
Happy Halloween and New Year! Your existence in the world has improved my life in many ways this year, not least of which was the Birthday Unending.
Thank you! <3 <3 <3
Happy Halloween to you as well.
Yay!
I derive more joy from Halloween and its visible symbols because I know that you are somewhere out there deriving joy from them.

Happy new year. May the coming year be even better for you than the last.
Thank you, and to you as well.
Happy Halloween and Happy New Year. May the Great Pumpkin heap blessings on you.
Thank you, darlin'.
Happy Halloween!
Same to you!
Happy Hallowe'en! I hope your coming year is filled with love and joy and as many stories as you might wish for.
Same to you!
Happy Halloween, and are you still working through last year's supply of post-Halloween candy?
Slowly.
Very excited -- as an autumn present to myself, I will be getting my Seanan McGuire / Stephen King mashup tattoo in a couple weeks :) Hail!
I can't wait to see it!
Thank you. And Happy Halloween to you, too.
Hooray!
Happy Halloween! As I type this, we're on our way to our Guildmistress' Samhain party, and are dressed up to take Josh trick-or-treating along with Guildmistress' daughter. And Josh is looking forward to the Halloween Goblin's arrival. (We told him last year that if he left out most of the sugary candy, the Halloween Goblin would come trade him books for it. It went over well enough that he gave us specific book requests this year. :)). Thank you for the joy you and your works have given us this past year, and may your new year be a good one.
The Halloween Goblin is the best idea ever.
May you find yourself in the most sincere pumpkin patch in the land.

Happy Halloween! Happy New Year!

I had a delightful southern-hemisphere Beltane, and of course it's the start of NaNoWriMo.
Hooray!
