The snow has fallen, and the winter isn't over yet!

I am delighted to announce that The Winter Long debuted on the New York Times Bestseller List in position #12, a new high for this series (and for me as a whole). With every book, we inch a little closer to the top ten, and I couldn't be more delighted.

I was very nervous about this book. This was the one where everything changed, where I started pulling strings and showing why certain things never quite seemed to line up. If this series were an episode of Leverage, this book would have been the moment in act three where the con turned and everything suddenly fell into place. Which means, being me, that I have been consumed with terror over the idea that people would think I had somehow cheated.

(It is exhausting, living inside my head. I do not recommend it.)

It has been an honor and a privilege to bring you all with me this far into October's world. All the pieces are in place for the beginning of act two, and I sincerely hope that you will stay with me for as long as it takes to see where the road leads us from here.

Thank you all, so very much.

I can't wait to see what happens next.

Thank you for giving us this world, I'm looking forward to more stories -nah - I hanker for them.
Very welcome. :)
Congratulations on your new high! You rock! And thank you for bringing us here. I know I was waiting for this book from the beginning, and now I want to see the next act for more answers!
And more questions!
"I can't wait to see what happens next. "

Neither can we.
And a doozy of a book it was, too. \o/

I have to say that I absolutely love the way that Toby's so focused on the job at hand that she just. doesn't. get. all the Stuff that impacts her on a personal level, but isn't immediately relevant to what she's doing.

She may be an unreliable narrator, but she's got her reasons.
And I don't cheat, which is important to me.
Squee! for the NY Times list, but an even bigger Squee! for the book itself! Previously, An Artificial Night was my favorite in the series, and I think that it had the thickest sense of ambiance in the series...until now. From the beginning, The Winter Long was pregnant with mood...and there was no letdown in the payoff. I notice that some of Chris McGrath's prints can be bought on blankets. Any chance of a future "The Winter Long" throw? I'm up for one!

Thanks again for the wonderful ride!!!

AAN has long been my favorite too, but I think this might replace it for me as well! :D

While I can't 100% answer for Seanan, I'm pretty sure that her answer to your throw question is "I don't know." She personally doesn't have the rights to the art or have anything to do with the process of contracting the artist, so she would not be involved in any merchandising using his art. I'm assuming that the artist retains the rights himself to any other use of his images beyond the book cover; I can't say for sure, but I believe that's usually how it works. So basically you'd have to ask him. :)

this position on the list is well deserved. may subsequent books do even better!
Thank you!
I am so happy to hear this. I can't think of any book I've read in recent memory which I would more like to see soar to the top of the charts, nor any author who more richly deserves that kind of success.
Aw.

#12! WOW! That is great news. Congratulations.
Thank you!
So happy for you! It's so deserved. And it's been a wonderful gift and journey to read your series.
Thank you!
Congrats on the #12, Seanan. I may have yelled at you a lot while reading this, but only because I care. :)
Aw, I accept your yelling as my due.
Congrats!
Thanks!
This book . . . every time I thought you'd thrown the Big Reveal, noooo, you threw something else out there. At the point where Toby says to her friends, "We are so screwed," I actually woke my wife up by yelling, "Ohhhh, shit!"

Which is a roundabout way to say this book was awesome, I loved every minute of it, and I don't feel you cheated at all. The clues were there, and you helpfully recapped them all. The next books can't come out soon enough for me. Thank you so much.
Hee hee hee yay.
Third time around, after rereading the whole series from the beginning (what? I read fast, and it's too hot for embroidery).

It's even better this time, because I can see how you built up to The Winter Long in the earlier books. Poor Toby, her world really has turned upside down. Good thing she has the boys (I love that, hee) and the rest of her true friends to back her up.

Somebody said that friends are the family you choose. I think Toby has made some good choices along the way.
I think so too.
Congratulations!
Thank you!
Actually my guess is that everyone will go back to the beginning of the series and re-read the books to catch the clues. At least I am going to do that.
That's what I did. :D

Congratulations! It's totally beyond me why you're not consistently in the top 10. I need to start reminding some of my Goodreads buddies about where the good books are!
Awww.
*punches the air* *literally, that's what I did when I read the news*
Congratulations!
Thank you!
Seanan I LOVED IT. SO MUCH. I read it in one sitting. Thank you :D And the honor is well-deserved.
Thank you so much.
Congratulations! It was a well deserved place on the list indeed!

Congrats!!! Can't wait for more books.
Me, neither!
Congrats! This and the three new books sold to DAW are both great news and I can't wait to read them all. :)
Thank you!
Congratulations!

I enjoyed the book VERY much, it was almost sold out already when I picked it up on Release Day, and I am so very happy for you.

To many more!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Glee.
Congratulations!!
Thank you!
Seanan,

I'm so beyond over the moon for you! You absolutely deserve to be up there on the NY Times list, and no, I did *NOT* ever feel you were cheating. In fact, I went back and reread the series, looking for all the things you scattered throughout just to see them.

This, of course, makes me wonder what else I've missed in the series to this point. ;-)

Congratulations. You have so very much earned this.
Thank you, honey. I mean it.
