THE WINTER LONG open thread!

To celebrate the release of The Winter Long, here. Have an open thread to discuss the book. Judging by the comments I'm seeing, some of you have had time, and I'd really, really rather book discussion (sometimes including spoilers) didn't crop up on other posts.

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS.

Seriously. If anyone comments here at all, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. So please don't read and then yell at me because you encountered spoilers. You were warned. (I will not reply to every comment; I call partial comment amnesty. But I may well join some of the discussion, or answer questions or whatnot.) I will be DELETING all comments containing spoilers which have been left on other posts. No one gets to spoil people here without a label.

You can also start a discussion at my website forums, with less need to be concerned that I will see everything you say! In case you wanted, you know, discussion free of authorial influence, since I always wind up getting involved in these things.

Have fun, and try not to bleed on the carpet.

Wow. I totally did not see like 90% of the revelations coming, but I can look back through the previous books and find the clues. Mind = blown. I have no choice but to re-read the whole series again now. (Not that I'm complaining.) Also, I have never wanted to repeatedly punch a character in the face as much as I want to punch Evening. Especially not after re-reading the first part of Rosemary and Rue.

Seeing Bridget and Chelsea again was nice. And the part with Toby thinking Quentin and Tybalt were dead was heart-wrenching. And OMG! Toby bringing the Luidaeg back from the dead. The Luidaeg actually getting killed in the first place. Evening turning out to be alive and one of the nastier Firstborn. Everything involving Simon! And have I mentioned wanting to punch Evening? Because I really want to punch Evening.

I feel really sorry for the entire Torquill family at this point. "Epically screwed-up" doesn't even begin to cover it. I also feel sorry for Toby with everything she's learned, and with her essentially losing the family she thought she had. Even though she has real support now, that's still pretty painful. Oh, and Amandine's issues suddenly make a whole lot more sense.

So...yeah. This is an amazing book. This series just keeps getting better with every installment- and it was pretty damn good to start with. ^_^
Evening turning out to be Eira, DAMN. I did not expect her to have been on the radar before this book, no question.
Thank you!
