THE WINTER LONG open thread!

To celebrate the release of The Winter Long, here. Have an open thread to discuss the book. Judging by the comments I'm seeing, some of you have had time, and I'd really, really rather book discussion (sometimes including spoilers) didn't crop up on other posts.

THERE WILL BE SPOILERS.

Seriously. If anyone comments here at all, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. So please don't read and then yell at me because you encountered spoilers. You were warned. (I will not reply to every comment; I call partial comment amnesty. But I may well join some of the discussion, or answer questions or whatnot.) I will be DELETING all comments containing spoilers which have been left on other posts. No one gets to spoil people here without a label.

You can also start a discussion at my website forums, with less need to be concerned that I will see everything you say! In case you wanted, you know, discussion free of authorial influence, since I always wind up getting involved in these things.

What I DIDNT see coming was Evening being alive holy SHIT. PLOT TWIST TO THE MAX!

One thing that I notice no ones brought up yet is Dawn. Toby was knighted for solving the murder of Evening's sister Dawn, right? So where does Dawn fit into this picture? Is she still alive? Was she Firstborn too???

Also I amend my wish for a spinoff to be The Adventures of Quentin and Raj (guest starring Chelsea). I ship Raj/Chelsea. I ship it so hard.

Toby was knighted for solving the murder of Evening's sister Dawn, right? So where does Dawn fit into this picture?

I didn't remember that! Was there any details about that murder? I just thought, what if (1) Dawn was someone Evening actually killed off to take her place in the Mists? or (2) Dawn IS also Evening, just that someone had killed her, so she couldn't go back as Dawn anymore. I think either might be possible if Toby did not personally know Dawn (because then, she would be able to tell from Evening's magic) but if she did, well, that's kind of out the window.

I don't think we've heard too many details about Dawn. I'm guessing Dawn could have been a little sister, or a descendant, or someone who Evening was faking having as a sister....

Toby mentions both finding who killed Evening's sister Dawn and finding the pretender Queen's knowe in Rosemary and Rue. Also that Evening supported Toby being knighted.
