...I have no issues with pointing out typos, especially in the Velveteen stuff, which is quite long, but maybe you could also, you know, acknowledge liking the thing (assuming you did)? Otherwise it gets a little pointed and aggressive-feeling, and decreases the odds of getting another story.
I love the Velveteen stuff so much. The only time I get cranky about typos is when they make it into actual published stuff, where one assumes it's been through multiple copyediting cycles and somehow something still sneaks through because of gremlins. :)
The multiple cycles are actually where it comes from! There isn't time to give the book back to the author after every single possible hand has touched the text. I've literally had typos introduced by the person who enters my corrections from the page proofs. They can't give me proofs of the post-proof cycle, or the circle would never, ever end.
