...I have no issues with pointing out typos, especially in the Velveteen stuff, which is quite long, but maybe you could also, you know, acknowledge liking the thing (assuming you did)? Otherwise it gets a little pointed and aggressive-feeling, and decreases the odds of getting another story.
I have gotten long, emailed screeds from readers about my zombie series with Permuted Press, where they just totally tear apart the book(s) (often getting numerous plot points and characterizations utterly wrong), castigate me for minor errors, and go on and on about typos and things that THEY would have done in the book. Nowhere in those emails do they say whether or not they like the book.
Sorry to have set off the typo checkers but I know that the couple who write as Ilona Andrews got thoroughly sick of people chiming in with typos on their free fiction and I didn't want to contribute to similar irritation.
I love the Velveteen stuff so much. The only time I get cranky about typos is when they make it into actual published stuff, where one assumes it's been through multiple copyediting cycles and somehow something still sneaks through because of gremlins. :)
The multiple cycles are actually where it comes from! There isn't time to give the book back to the author after every single possible hand has touched the text. I've literally had typos introduced by the person who enters my corrections from the page proofs. They can't give me proofs of the post-proof cycle, or the circle would never, ever end.
i had a pretty awful night at work with angry high-risk kids. Velveteen pretty much makes my day (after what was a long june) immediately a ten, no matter how much angry teenage hate i got thrown at me today.
We clearly hate the velveteen stories, because we only have both books in hardcover. So, yes, they are terrible, everyone should rush out and buy them..
*hugs* I know that feeling. It's like people don't realize that when they say "there's a typo here" they're saying "this is a mistake" and when they do that a lot, they're sending a meta message "there are a lot of things wrong with this; this is really bad."
If "this is really bad" is not the intended message (and usually, to be fair, it's totally not--the intended message is more like; "This is great; it deserves a perfect presentation--you're almost there, let me help") then it's very important to put a signpost on that turn--one of the "warning 20 miles an hour exit" ones, with a line drawing of an 18 wheeler tipping over. So the creator of the piece isn't going too fast for the curve.
I loved it and didn't see any typos; I was enjoying it too much to pay attention to that, and I am *notorious* for catching typos and such. My favorite recently was someone being charged for "tempted murder". Yeah, you know, murder is just SO seductive.
I just love that you give us the Velveteen stories. I don't even know that I pick up on the minor typos, and they really are minor, I've seen worse in actual published fiction that employs people to pick those up. I always try to thank you for the Velveteens, because I adore reading them so much, so have a few thank yous for anything I've missed.

I loved the story, and I guess just wanted to "help"! Wasn't supposed to be nit picky.
