This just in: more to come from Mira Grant.

So a press release just went up on the Orbit Books website. Here's the link, if you're curious. Go ahead and read it. I'll wait here.

Done reading yet?

YES OH MY GOD YES NOW I CAN FINALLY ANNOUNCE IT YES!!!!! Mira Grant (IE, "me") is returning to Orbit for three more beautiful books. The third Parasitology book (title to be determined), a standalone book (one of three concepts, to be decided when I actually hit the point of needing to write it), and Rewind, a fourth book set in the world of Newsflesh.

Yes. We're going back to the Rising.

There will also be four new novellas set in the Newsflesh world; the first of them, "The Day the Dead Came to Show and Tell," will be out this summer.

Before people start asking, no, Rewind will not be a story about the Masons: they are done. But it will cover the same time period as Feed, and will provide a long-needed view of the Democratic side of the presidential race. What really happened to Susan Kilburn and Frances Blackburn, the two most promising candidates put up by the Democrats? What happened to their teams? All is finally going to be made clear, and man, is it going to be one hell of a ride.

To quote myself from the press release, "I am overjoyed to be able to continue to write in the Parasite universe, and more, I am so, so excited to return to the world of Kellis-Amberlee, the Rising, and my unique approach to future journalism. I hope that everyone else will be as excited as I am to go back there, and I promise I have some thrilling surprises in store for you. As for that stand-alone third novel, well...You'll have to wait and see what that's going to be about. I can tell you one thing for sure: it's going to be an adventure."

I love adventures.

YAY! I'm going have even more books to read and love and cry over! I don't know if I've mentioned before, but the Newsflesh books were the first I'd ever read where I felt like I needed to watch videos of kittens playing with rainbows or something to balance my emotions out. :)
Aw, that's sweet.
Hooray! Also I admit seeing familiar events and characters from an unfamiliar perspective is a thing I like. I can imagine that whatever happened in the climax of Feed involved a lot of Democratic campaign staffers running around flailing trying to figure out What The Hell. (Also, given the events of the next two books, I'd like to see more about that presidential race to get the full picture knowing what I now know.)
I love that too. I really wish we'd gotten the sequel to Cloverfield.
such awesome news!
Glee.
I read the word 'Newsflesh' and started vibrating in glee. :D

Yessss this is awesome :D
I am pleased.
WHOO HOO!

Also, once enough Newsflesh shorts are done, could we get them collected as a standalone book?
That is not my decision.
more from the Newsflesh world?

SHITYES.
Yay!
Ack! Another Rising book! ACK! *endless excitement*

Also, I just finished reading Sparrow Hill Road, and it was loverly, and I remain amused, and happy about your use of scent as a descriptor, as a very smell oriented person :)
I am glad, if starting to become self-conscious about it.

So excited about Rewind, I remember you mentioning back when Feed was first out that you wanted to write about the Democratic campaign, so it's great to see this actually going ahead.
I am just over the moon.
*Squeeeeeeeeeeee*

What a lovely, lovely, start to my day--thank you for sharing the fantastic news, Seanan!
Very welcome!
Dino dance party? Dino dance party!

Ysabet said to me that you said on Twitter a lil' while back that you were jealous of your mum for being able to read Newsflesh fic because you couldn't yet, and I thought, 'Huh. I thought Newsflesh was done, and I'm sure Seanan said at some point that she was intending to read fic once she was finished writing in the 'verse.' So then I figured there was another novella on the cards that you hadn't mentioned yet, and started tormenting Ysabet with promises that I would write Newsflesh fic for her if I could find an angle to it that she hadn't already written.

A novella. Ha ha, self. This? This is like hitting a pinata expecting candy to come out and instead getting a whole chocolate factory. A chocolate factory with zombies in it, otherwise known as the best sort.
Hee hee hee good catch.
SO EXCITED!

Congratulations on the multiple book deal! I can't wait to buy the lot!
Thank you!
What completely fabulous news!
