On the road again; guess it's time to get on the road again...

Well, here I am updating again to say that I'm leaving. This is becoming something of a habit. (I know exactly why. I didn't travel much for like, four years, so this year has become a whirlwind of going everywhere and seeing everything and trying to do it all without losing my grip on things like deadlines and word counts and TV schedules. It'll settle down soon enough. But right now, it seems like I only update this blog when I'm about to hit the ground running.)

And what a run it's going to be! I'm Guest of Honor at Norwescon next weekend, and will be spending the next week in Seattle rehearsing, writing up, and getting ready. This is a working trip, not a pleasure trip, so if I don't reach out to you going "hey let's hang," please don't take it personally; I need to get my balance before I have to be awesome for a paying audience. But I promise lots of awesome on the other end, even if I'll be wracked with guilt over leaving my cats for this long.

(Alice and Thomas continue well, and exceedingly fluffy. Lilly is getting a bad case of the Olds, and is not doing as great, but she endures, transitioning into that stage of life known as "fueled by hate" among Siamese lovers everywhere.)

I have not been seriously ill since leaving my day job, even though I have seriously exhausted myself several times. I'm not saying that correlation is causation in this case, but I think I can make a good case for the two being connected. Hooray for being out of the plague pit!

More to come.

its always cute in other peoples cats.. but day to day, not so cute. When my Newton was getting older, he was such a cranky little old man, all he needed was a cane to shake at me.
Yeah, pretty much. I feel bad because I yell at her more, because she tests boundaries constantly. It's like having an angry, fragile kitten.

Safe and joyous travels to you!
Thank you!
I remember the same thing happened to me when I stopped teaching undergrads to focus on finishing my dissertation: suddenly much less sickness. (I learned that flu shots should be required for all teachers and students capable of getting them, and one should instruct students that if they are feeling crummy, for the love of cats, stay home and turn in your assignments electronically.)
Yes. Yes, they should.
I'm so excited! The last few years Norwescon has been really good about getting guests I want to see, I found out you were GoH shortly after I discovered October Daye, while I was still in the middle of obsessively reading through the series. (I'm a Seattlite.)
Woo!
I'm Norwescon bound next week - but not to work which is fun. Usually I'm working a Can't Stop the Serenity table at conventions so it's rare that I get the time off to myself. I'm excited to hear you sing on Saturday :) You were my first exposure to Let It Go when you visited Toronto (I hadn't seen the film yet) and I can't wait to hear you sing more :)
I really hope the concert lived up to your expectations.

Co-workers = germs!

Or maybe co-workers X work stress = lower immunity?
Or better yet, BART riders = train cars the CDC should quarantine!

My Siamese/calico mix developed an even more imperious voice in her elder years, and it always conjured up images in my mind of an old woman's voice, gravelly after years of whiskey and cigarettes. ;)
D'aw.
Norwescon is always great- enjoy!
I did!
Have a safe trip and a good time. :)
Thank you!
I'm looking forward to seeing you at Norwescon this year!
I hope you had a great time!
Eee. I am excited, because Norwescon is my local con and I shall be there.

May I ask, do you have a signing scheduled, or is it okay to come up and ask you after a panel? I would dearly like to get my copy of Letters to the Pumpkin King signed. (I would, of course, have pen with me and notation for spelling of name and such, because I figure, hopefully, someday I'll be in that position -- hey, a girl can dream! ;) -- and I would prefer people to make things more convenient for me.) Even though I'm likely to be terribly shy and squeaky.
I'm pretty sure I did this? I hope I did this. I hope the con was amazing for you. <3

Have fun at Norwescon!

I'm feeling the rush myself, it being two weeks until I head off to be Filk Waif at FilKONtario.
Whee!
Lilly can join up with Oscar in their cranky old age, we are just now figuring out how to deal his sub-q fluids so that he will actually sit still for them, rather than grumble at me and run off. Kidney failure is no fun.

Have fun at Norwescon!

When we had to give sub-q to our half manx Bunny cat, I took to lining the bathroom sink with a towel and plopping her in. It also helped hugely to warm up the fluid bag in a bowl of hot tap water beforehand. Especially in wintertime...

I warmed the bag for a while, but it didn't really make a difference. I tend to just scruff him lightly and hold him for the ten minutes.
Poor babies.
Very glad you're feeling better!
I am!
