Sarah
It's a scary thing, shaping the world around you.
You'd think it would be easy, yes
To say, This is the way it is, and have it become so.
It should be no surprise that we are mad.
There comes a point when, wingless,
We must soar
or fall
when we step out into nothing.
I read once, in that ancient book
of a tempter, saying,
All of this can be yours,
So long as you worship me.
As metaphors go, it's inexact
but still, I wonder
where is that line
and will I even see it
when it comes time for me to leap,
knowing
that there will never be angels to catch me.
