HALF-OFF RAGNAROK giveaway: art and pictures!

As promised, here is the Half-Off Ragnarok art and pictures giveaway!

How to enter:

Post a comment either containing or linking to fan art, photography, or other visual awesomeness inspired by or related to this series. Because LJ lists all links as spam, your comment may appear to disappear. I will be manually unspamming all these comments, have no fear.

Please link only to your own work, not to Aly's awesome covers or to someone else's fan art (it does exist). Please indicate in the original comment whether you're in the US or international.

How to win:

I will be using the RNG to choose a winner at noon PST on Monday, February 10th. Please watch this space, as I will be requesting that you send me your address pretty quickly, so that your prize can be mailed before I fly to New York for the remainder of the month.

Game on!

So, when you announced that you were going to hold an art drawing, I was home and slightly feverish with what turned out to be a sinus infection. No, really, it makes much more sense considering mental impairment. Anyhow, I decided it might be fun to make a traditional Chinese seal that said Cryptozoology, or, more to the point

神秘動物學

(shen1 bi4 dong4 wu4 xue2 - I think, a couple of those characters have alternate pronunciations, and while yeah, I read and write Chinese, this is a not a term that is part of my usual vocabulary.*) Of course, I haven't made a five character seal before, so I figured I'd go with a fairly general layout, so I put it into seal script, messed around and got something like this:

Except, wait, WTF is with this flower motif, that won't do at all, so I reworked it a bit:

And, then, of course, for the full effect:

ETA: 1 I'm in the US.
2 As I was contemplating how much it bothered me that this had only four legs but a believable insect body plan (this is intentional, but it still makes me twitch) it occurred to me that it is clearly a Cryptick.

* You know what's lame? I have colleagues and lab mates who grew up in China, and when I ask them for specific terminology in our mutual field, they mostly shrug and say "Oh, I just use the English term, even when I'm speaking Chinese." I mean, not knowing how to say Cryptozoology isn't going to lose me any sleep at night. And I was really happy to be able to tell Chen Laoshi that I was studying neurobiology and biomechanics. But... argh!
What I think an Aeslin artifact might look like. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/pnwphotos/3888432832/sizes/o/in/photostream/) I've took this a while ago and I've had the mousie forever (It was carved by my grandfather). It just whispers "Incryptid" to me...

Am I disqualified if you've seen it already? I knitted an Aeslin mouse cheering squad for a friend, and then we got kind of crazy with a photo shoot in my mom's old dollhouse... (Sadly, the Barbie mansion was sold long ago.)130921_AeslinMice_Embark

My daughter, Cora, decided to dress as Verity for Halloween in 2012. While very few people got it, those who did were HIGHLY amused :-). And yes, she can dance in those shoes. We decided hair color was inconsequential, since Verity wears wigs as Valerie!

I am in the US and have very little artistic ability, but a desperate fondness for Seanan's work so here is my best effort to appease the gods of the RNG.This is based on a photo by Joseph O'Brien, USDA Forest Service. Used under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States license.

This is what my brain insists an Indonesian coatl that's sort of a fusion between a blue coral snake and a rainbow lorikeet would look like. ;)

Hi Seanan. So this is design work of Istas, to be followed by a full piece eventually (I am blessed with a commissioner who introduced me to your work, and wow).

Also, I am in the US. Thanks for the contest :)
It's last-minute, so hopefully I'm in time, if not, enjoy the fanart regardless!
