There is a price to pay. There is always a price to pay. INDEXING, episode #12, is now live!

Once upon a time, I began a story. Today, with the twelfth episode of Indexing, I complete it. Episode twelve, "Bad Apple," is ready for you to enjoy.

This post serves as both your reminder and discussion thread. Reminder that this is your last chance to get the whole serial at the special Kindle Serials price; the cost will be going up by $1.00 in the very near future.

Now rest, my dear, and be at ease; there’s a fire in the hearth and a wind in the eaves, and the night is so dark, and the dark is so deep, and it’s time that all good little stars go to sleep.

"Our benefactor" is a nice little hook. Someday I hope we get to see what's on the other end of that string.

Loved the ending. This was a fantastic ride. Thank you for taking us along!
I hope so too.
Done and done!
Glee.
The monomyth. Is reality.

I'm just gonna sit back and boggle a while. And then maybe reread from episode one.

(Did I thank you for Gerry yet? Thank you for Gerry.)
It's the narrative that won...for now.

(You are so welcome.)

The friend who turned me on to your writing and I were in the car together for about 16 hours last week, and one of the topics of discussion was Indexing. We were both in love with the story, and neither of us could figure out how on earth you were going to be able to finish everything up in a satisfying way in a single episode.

But then you did. It's an entirely satisfying ending that still leaves the door open for more adventures with the team.

You rock :) Also, I now want to cos-play Henry.
If you do, please send a picture!
I really loved this and gah, didnt' get a chance to respond sooner. I adored it and squeeued with I got the comment that it updated-- I LOVED Sloane's role in this. It was simply perfect and the borrowing of the stripes? AMAZING. Thank you for this wonderful story!
You're so welcome!
I was fascinated by the way the story was delivered in episode segments with automatic updating to a single ebook file. Did you work directly with Amazon to do the series storytelling, or is this something you arranged through a publisher? Did you have it all written before the first episode came out? Was it an every two week thing by your choice or did Amazon mandate that?

In short: wow, how'd you do that?
All questions have been answered in the Indexing post-game post!
Very well done, once again you stick the landing quite well. Henry and Sloane both had heart-wrenching moments of bad-assery, and you left things with an ending that I can be content with, even if a second season doesn't happen. I of course hope it does, as I'd love to spend more time with the characters.
Thank you. :)
Here I am, two months after the close of Indexing, and I still don't feel like I have words to describe how much I love the story, and even more, the characters.

I'm a huge fan of fucked-up fairy tales and stories about "found" family. With Leverage cancelled, this was like a straight up shot of brain crack, even before I got to know the characters.

I loved them all. I loved that this group of outsiders refused to let anything (narrative and monomyth be damned) dictate who they were going to be. My heart broke for them and the choices they didn't get to make, and they way they forged themselves out of the shards. I don't think I need to mention how awesome the level of diversity was, because I know you get it. Wonderful, well-rounded people, whose race, gender and sexuality was part of them, but not the only thing that defined them.

And at the core, (heh, core) of the decidedly unpoisoned apple, the two women I wish I could be. Henry, strong and good, willing to risk the snowbound wood for her people. Smart, and flawed, and so alone for so long. And Sloane. Strong and wicked and angry. Frozen in time, always riding the razors edge between good, and...not good. Alone, and watched. And yet, like Henry, never truly alone.

*sigh* Okay, I think I'm done now. So, yes. Thank you.

You are so very, truly welcome.
