Preparing for the PARASITE tour.

Hello, world!

The book tour for Parasite will be launching soon. As most of the events are outside my "home territory," they will not feature cupcakes, but because I do not stray from tradition when I don't have to, the Borderlands event will feature cupcakes. And I have a request.

If you know for sure that you will be attending (or making a good faith effort to attend; I understand that life happens), and you have one of the following dietary restrictions...

* Vegan
* Gluten-free
* Egg or dairy allergy

...please comment here to let me know. I only order "specialty" cupcakes when I expect someone with that particular restriction to be at the event, as there is additional cost/prep time. Not so much that I'm unwilling to do it; just enough that I don't if I don't have to.

Hope to see you there!

Perfect! Thank you so much! ^_^ My girlfriend will be at the Seattle signing - she's really excited about Parasite.

The gluten free cupcakes they make are AMAZING. Many bakeries that do gluten-free cupcakes will only do strong flavours like dark chocolate and gingerbread and amaretto (which are not my favourites) because they are justly not confident of their ability to produce delicate flavours like vanilla and strawberry and green tea (which are my favourites, because that's just my luck). Cups and Cakes does all three of those PERFECTLY.

Your sister will be very happy (unless she's unlucky enough to have developed a conditioned reaction to cake like I have to drinking milk--it made me sick often enough that I can't) and if she does want cake, sleuth out her favourite pre-diagnosis flavour in case she is well and truly tired of chocolate, gluten-free brownies and flourless chocolate cake so often being the only celiac friendly desserts on hand.

(I'm also celiac.)

My sister's had it since birth actually, so I imagine trying a unique flavor or two would be a neat change for her. She loves chocolate, but it does get boring for her sometimes (especially living in the Midwest where until really recently, if she wanted baked goods, she had to make her own). Green tea or strawberry would probably be a huge hit -she's a culinary science student and she always likes to see how other GF bakeries do stuff - it gives her IDEAS. I sent her some lavender vanilla shortbread cookies once and she apparently took that as a jumping point for a lot of exploration (I really miss being one of her guinea pigs). She's also got so much of a sweet tooth I'd swear she's part-Madhura if I didn't know better.

Heck, the commute between that bakery and my place isn't that bad if she takes BART - she might ask me to see if they take summer interns! (She's planning on doing pastry work as a career after she finishes college) Thanks so much for the glowing recommendation! And if you ever want to swap recipes, let me know. With both my younger sibs having celiac, 90% of my recipes are gluten-free anyway. ^_^
