PARASITE giveaway: hardship.

I am opening two Parasite giveaways this week, for the last two precious ARCs in my possession! This is the second, and it's a short one, because I want to send out the ARC on Thursday before I leave for Denver. The rules are a little different this time. Specifically...

This is a giveaway for people who know that they cannot afford the book right now. Times are tight, and sometimes we loose the luxuries, like new books, first. I don't need to know everything about your situation (although feel free to vent if it makes you feel better); everyone is being taken at their word. To enter:

1. Leave a comment on this entry.
2. This giveaway is US-only: the cost of mailing the book Internationally is more than the cost of the book, which cancels out the "can't afford" aspect of things. I'm sorry.
3. That's all.

A winner will be chosen tomorrow afternoon at 6pm PST. Time is short! Sound off now!

I just had the Resident Evil Feline into the Vets to remove 4 teeth, and then the followup because his face puffed up, then my computer hard drive died, oh yeah, and I have a brain tumor.. its small and on the surface, so its not compromised the actual brain itself, but its leaning on it... I have had a sucky month...
Hi. Not entering this giveaway, but I'll sponsor an international ship for this, if you want to do that, Seanan.
Oh, this is a great idea. I'd be happy to do one as well.

I'm always up for new books from you. If only the budget permitted...
US person here, I qualify for this one too (which sucks).
I'm moooooving. All my money is going into getting things done at the new place and mooooving.
I'm going to school full time for a degree in Early Childhood Education and work 30+ hours just to pay for tuition and rent. Luxuries like books are something I can't afford right now. So basically libraries are my best friend when I can find time to escape to one. Granted, free time is few and far between at the moment, but Parasite is one of those things I can miss sleep for :)
Can't afford luxuries until the cat gets to the vet and I get graduated. But I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I really appreciate that you run these hardship giveaways, by the way; I think it's a great idea.
Too many things to describe, but yeah, except when I make incredibly stupid decisions, I'm rolling with free or Good Will books only lately.
Unfortunately I had Unexpected Car Repairs last weekend which has rather drained my emergency budget. It was rather frightening when it started shaking, but I managed to make my way home safely. The plush Dalek on my rearview mirror got quite a workout though. It is primarily squeezed to prevent road rage, but the tinny "EXTERMINATE" and "YOU WOULD MAKE A GOOD DALEK" was rather comforting in the face of the dark and the shaking.

I hope that I am fortunate enough to win a copy, but understand if you don't feel comfortable, as I did win a recent giveaway from you. If not, my car is repaired and I know where my library is.
It's been a couple months of unexpected car repairs, dental bills (my job used to cover that insurance - quit that job - smalls need clean teeth), left the old job to care for the smalls and it's finally catching up and...hubs is a federal employee.

All non-essentials are removed from the list at this point:( Lots of re-reading. Which isn't so bad but I'd like a new one.

I fit into this category unfortunately. I will treasure this book, if I win it. Otherwise, I will patiently wait for my hold at the library. Thank you for doing this.
My husband was furloughed and wants to start the leaving process but can't until the govt comes back. :(

Yeah, we live in the US.

Thank you!
Me too. Me, too. Which agency us screwing you ? USDA.

gridlore's application for state disability has now been listed as Pending Medical Provider Form for over three months. We spent two of those playing email tag with the office manager for the physician of record on his hospital admission, who finally told us "Oh, the doctor says he can't complete the form because he's not your primary provider." WE KNOW HE ISN'T DOUG'S PRIMARY PROVIDER. I TOLD YOU THAT WHEN I SENT YOU THE GODDAMN FORM. AND HIS FUCKING PRIMARY PROVIDER WASN'T FUCKING INVOLVED WITH TREATMENT BECAUSE HE HAD A FUCKING STROKE AND WOULD HAVE DIED BY THE TIME WE GOT HIM TO HIS PRIMARY'S FUCKING HOSPITAL.

...I may have gone a little far with your invitation to vent. Sorry.

While I'm here, though, let me thank you for this giveaway, and the ones before it, and for all the free short fiction on your website.
I have worked every day since early August. My first day off is October 26th. Between vet bills for the kitty that had a urinary tract infection and needed surgery, car repairs, and gas to see my mother, who was admitted to the hospital a few weeks ago and won't be fully better until two to three weeks after her surgery at the end of October, money for books is not on the list right now. (But I, thankfully, have libraries. :) )

Yes please!
This is an extraordinarily nice gesture on your part. My partner and I have been living in his car since mid-July, despite both being unemployed, simply because we can't afford an apartment. Books are definitely one of the little luxuries I sorely miss, but can't justify right now. Old favorite books are a huge comfort, but being unable to afford new ones is something I miss.
That should say both EMPLOYED. We're both working, just still can't make ends meet. Ugh.
I have an upcoming unexpected trip to CO to fetch my car, which had to be abandoned in Jamestown during the flash floods in September. Thankfully, my Dad and Step-mom, and Talis and friend, were all safe, but were airlifted out by national guard helicopter on Friday, the 13th. So far, this fall is not being kind...
I'm eagerly awaiting the Parasite book, can't wait to get my hands on it!
Currently having issues even paying my rent, so this would be grand.
I was lucky enough to be the recipient of one of your giveaways (Discount Armageddon) back when I was having a rough patch so I would be happy to put something towards an international giveaway, paying it forward and all that :)
I adore your writing and would love an ARC of Parasite! I've been checking them out from the library because I don't have any extra money since my student loans have eaten all my money and will for a good long while (and of course I'm not working in my field because I need to go for a M.S or a Ph.D to actually do something with Bio.)
A new book?! I had to beg the local library to get a copy of Blackout and I'm still waiting for them to get a copy of Chime at Midnight.

I need to know! I'll take anything! (First year too poor to buy...)
Comment comment comment.
A book that I don't have to pay for is a very good thing right now.
I'm still working on finding a job, five months after graduating for college...which unfortunately means I'm on a very limited budget.

Thank you so much for doing these kinds of things, Seanan. It means a lot.
