Ten things make a list, and I like lists. Hark, a list!

10. For some reason, people have been sending me Livejournal messages a lot recently. You are totally welcome to do this, but please be aware that I may take months to answer, even years, as they are a lower priority than messages which come in through my website contact form. If you want to contact me for any reason, your best channel is my website, which has a lovely and easy-to-use contact form. These emails go to my PA, who answers some questions herself and forwards the rest on to me. Where they appear in my inbox, impossible to ignore. Where they get answered.

9. Seriously, just use the contact form. I don't really answer messages received through any other channel in any sort of a reasonable time (and I don't answer Facebook messages at all).

8. I am making cioppino tomorrow night! I am so excited about that! Except...

7. ...I'm making it for me and Olivia to eat while we watch "The Quarterback" and cry. I know Glee is a frequently terrible show, but I am genuinely saddened by Cory's death, and this is going to be emotionally devastating.

6. The tip jar is remaining open until tomorrow morning, largely because I forgot to post this reminder yesterday. Thanks to everyone who's chipped in so far, and to everyone who hasn't, too, because sometimes life says "not this time." Y'all are awesome.

5. So awesome, in fact, that I am compelled to make sure you've seen the incredible videos on SymboGen.net. Seriously, this is some of the best marketing ever, and it's for my book. I am overcome with squee.

4. The field of Alice's fucks lies fallow, and I support this.

3. Carrie: The Musical is really fantastic. If you're in the Bay Area, I recommend the Ray of Light production, now playing in San Francisco. If you're not, look around; there are a lot of productions going right now, due to the rights opening up.

2. Zombies are love.

1. HAPPY OCTOBER HALLOWEEN IS COMING.

Happy October, best month of all months! I'm celebrating my birthday this weekend in the traditional way: horror movies, cupcakes, and those mallowcreme pumpkins (best candy ever)! Because being born on the 13th of October sort of guaranteed I'd be obsessed with everything spooky/Halloween and the REAL party is gonna be Halloween when I roll out the Dr. Abbey costume.

Also, preordered Parasite and I CANNOT WAIT. ^_^
If you send me a photo of your Dr. Abbey costume, I'll send you one of mine!

In an amusing bit of chaos, I am currently living in a local hotel for a few weeks while the cleaning fairies sent by my insurance company tackle the cleanup from a small but smoky fire a few weeks ago. The textile fairies brought me back a truly random selection of my clothing to "get by with" - thanks to them I may have only 3 pairs of socks, but I have my bright orange Tshirt that reads "Do Not Taunt The Octopus".
I'm sorry to hear about that! :c Hope you will be home soon!

As for me, well, the t-shirt was $30 online with shipping, and I'm a broke PhD student, so....fabric marker for $4 and an orange t-shirt on sale for $7, and a 10 cent printed page to use as a template, and well, we'll see how well it works! I will also have the knitted octopi my friend made as a birthday present, which will be poking out of the pockets. They're too small to have amplified yet though ;p

I'd love a pic of your costume though! My tumblr is geekhyena, so if you want to submit it to my askbox or something, or even link me a pic, that'd be awesome! ^_^

My t-shirt was $3 at the thrift store and the iron-on material was $2 at the fabric store :)

I did this at Worldcon (and made Seanan squee) so I couldn't do the other half I was planning on.

*points to bunny in icon* She's all black, right? I was going to put a nametag on her harness that read "Joe", and if anyone asked I was going to say "It's her first cosplay - don't be mean!"
Awww! Cute idea for the bunny! ^_^ And niiice, yeah, it's often much more fun to be crafty with stuff anyways.

I miss having a bunny. Charlie was vicious to everyone but me, but she was a good little demonbunny. Stupid inability to afford pets....
Awww - yay for demonbunnies!

My previous companion was Pepper the Plague Bunny. She had a rough time before I adopted her, so it took her a long time to decide that people-hands could be nice things as well as pokey things. It was months before she let me pet her and the first time she binkied I cried for happy. But she also ended up with chronic pasteurella, and that led to the health issues that finally finished her off. But she hopped up on the bed to ask for pettins every night and slept under my bed right up until the end. Non-bunny-people just don't understand how much personality is stuffed into those little fluffy bodies.

Have you considered fostering? Rescue groups always need fosters and they pay all of the expenses.
Aww, Pepper sounds sweet. Poor baby. Charlie was more aggressive than I'd ever seen in a rabbit, but she liked to snuggle me and she loved to sit in my lap. She was only 3 when she died of cancer and I still miss her.

There are several foster programs around here, but I don't think they'd pay for the $500 deposit I have to pay my landlady in exchange for having an animal in the apartment. Not to mention that with my schedule, I wouldn't be around enough hours of the day for an animal, really. Having an owner, or even a foster-mommy that's gone 8-5 every day wouldn't be fair. Once I pass my QE in 2 years, I might be able to work from home a bit more and be around more, so maybe then. It's a shame - the local vet college does have a great foster program.
