Welcome, one and all, to the Traveling Circus and Snake-Handling Show!

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you...

Tomorrow's Party Schedule!

The Traveling Circus and Snake-Handling Show is returning to our home of homes at Borderlands Books, and we couldn't be happier about it. SEE! The Amazing Mary, imported all the way from Alabama to enchant you with her wicked ways! HEAR! The Incredible Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff, masters of the rocking arts! GAZE IN AWE! At Paul and Beckett, guitar and harmonica, as they ensnare your senses! And I'll be there, of course.

Our evening...

4:00 PM: Setup, sound check, and final details. You can show up, but we may ignore you if you do. Sorry about that.
5:00 PM: Welcome to our party. We're done ignoring you now. Would you like some music?
5:30 PM: Perhaps you would like to win things.
5:40 PM: Now there will be cupcakes and autographing.
6:00 PM: More music?
6:30 PM: More prizes?
6:40 PM: Q&A and book discussion.
7:10 PM: Last music of the night.
7:40 PM: Let's raffle some more stuff off.
7:50 PM: Thanks and final questions before we close the evening.

This iteration of the Traveling Circus and Snake-Handling Show will be in the cafe; the bookstore will be open throughout the evening. The cafe will also be open, and they've promised to have plenty of bread and delicious pastry this time. Raffle tickets will be available through the two standard methods: show up, or buy something from the bookstore.

All performing musicians will have CDs for sale, because we're predictable like that. There may also be T-shirts. There will be cupcakes provided in the bookstore as part of the party, and a whole cafe full of delicious things to purchase and enjoy.

It's gonna be a good night. Hope to see you there.

The Travelling Circus sounds so awesome! One of these days I will fly out again to the Bay Area, visit my old friend Kaolin again, and actually attend a book signing of yours. In lieu of money to do that, I've ordered a fourth, additional book for signing (at your leisure. later than people actually there is completely okay): "Home Improvement: Undead Edition." I hesitated before buying it, since I already read a library copy. But I want to read it again -- the story of how Toby opened Goldengreen knowe really serves as a transition and missing chapter that is relevant to "Chimes." It is so wonderful that you do these signing requests as an author; I really appreciate it.

My tally to date of copies of "Chimes at Midnight" is one Kindle version for my tablet (they're on sale for $6, along with the others!); one signed paperback, and one copy bought tonight at Barnes & Noble, suitable for reading outside the apartment, loaning, or general wear and tear abuse in my backpacks and satchels. I picked up three more books for signing, on top of that, then finally had to restrain myself. I'm really hoping "Indexing'" will get a collected physical edition some day, but love the installment format. I would pay $3 _per installment_ -- I can't believe I keep getting new updates regularly with just the admission price (it's like a rock concert ticket good for repeated visits as you follow the band around).

Speaking of requests... Mary from Alabama, singing? (My ears perked up at the mention of my home state mentioned). Could you post links sometime to the musicians at these events? Their websites can be hard to track them down. Also, you often quote snippets of music, as post openers or closers, can baffle Google. Sometimes I suspect they're your own works (in which case I want CDs, but that's a long-standing wish waiting for funds). Other times, they're up and coming bands, or filk music, and I just don't know where to find them.

"Time is fleeing," I know, but should you get the time on a given post, maybe you could add a hyperlink or two?

I hope the Travelling Circus Show is awesome. Jude and Cary at Borderlands have been wonderful in filling requests and correspondence; I hope to see them and the store in person some day (though you writing Borderlands into "Chimes" is the next best thing).

Yours Truly,
Mack
Because I'm certain that Seanan has not the time nor energy to provide such info for this post (and others), let me see if I can help.

Mary from Alabama: http://magnusretail.com/
Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff: http://www.mysticfig.com/

I found those quickly using Google. Paul and Beckett were a bit harder, but I couldn't find any music for them.
Dear Deakat,

Awesome! Thank you for the links! "Mary from Alabama" was the one really eluding me -- we have many Mary's in music over here. :) And thanks for the answer re: Paul and Beckett; I could find no music for sale, since apparently none is listed right now. :)

Now, I need to figure out _why_ I am not getting LJ notifications sent to my email, as I should have seen your reply sooner...

Mack
Paul is Paul Kwinn and his cd is here:

His wife is artist Beckett Gladney, who also plays harmonica:

"Ask, and you shall receive."

Thank you very much for those links! Now I need to figure out why I am _also_ getting no notifications of replies to my posts...

Sigh. I will find out and fix.
I really can't guarantee links, because I don't always have time, and try not to create "traditions" I can't maintain. But people seem to have gotten you what you needed!
