There's more than one way to tell the same story: INDEXING episode #5 is now live!

It's here! It's here! The fifth episode of Indexing is now live!

Sometimes stories deviate from their predictable paths, turning darker than anyone ever expected them to be. Sloane Winters is still struggling to keep her own narrative difficulties hidden, and Henry Marchen is dealing with a team that doesn't seem to work together the way it used to. All this comes to a head in "Cruel Sister" as a Cinderella story gone awry threatens to reveal the narrative to the world...with deadly consequences.

This post serves as both your reminder and discussion thread.

Once upon a time...

Not yet it isn't.
Yeah, someone claimed it was on Twitter, but they were...wrong.

Still isn't there. Glad I didn't remember when I woke up and have only been trying to sync my fix from lunch, not all day.
So sorry.

Now it's really up!
Whee.
Mine hadn't synch'd before I left for work. And actually, that makes it a bit easier to actually WORK today, instead of having my kindle whispering to me from my bookbag all day... :-) It'll be there once I get home this evening!
Hooray!
Oh, my. Since the narratives have been disguising themselves, I kept trying to see if these were hidden Hansel and Gretals, or what have you. But Sloane facing her might-have-been and telling Henry the truth were great. I really love Sloane - there's something about characters who have intense drives to hurt or kill but make incredible efforts to do right instead that I love.
Oh me oh my, Ramola Garai!

The narratives are getting tricky.

Sorry!
It is *so good*. I'm loving this story so much.

PS: Sloane is my favorite.
Sloane seems to be everyone's favorite. :)
I love this story, and I like how the narratives recognize it other like how elise calll sloane sister, it keeps getting better and I will love to know what went wrong with snow white.
I think she's her real sister. At least, that's how I interpreted it. Sloane seemed specifically focused on this case and Elise seemed to be addressing her and recognizing her specifically. I did guess at the beginning that Elise was Sloane, though, so I might just be stuck on the idea of them being connected personally, but if Sloane is a wicked stepsister it stands to reason that she has a sister who's one as well considering the information given about 105a (was that the designation?) story types provided in the chapter. But I should probably reread it just to be sure. Man, the thing I miss most about bound leaf books when I'm reading ebooks is the difficultly in flipping back and forth between passages to double check details for theories.

You know you're writing faster than I can read. I'm still working on the zombie kangaroo story.
It was a good week for reading Seanan McGuire. I drained my iPod touch twice per story reading and rereading all of these stories. The speed-reading will do that to 'em, apparently.

My reaction to finishing episode 5 last night: "The worst part about this story is waiting for the next installment. Give me the whole thing NOOOOOoooooOOOOWWWwwww!"
Awww.
I had a long moment of hesitation before fixing myself a bowl of applesauce from a sealed container yesterday thanks to you.

I'm also taking a long careful time trying to guess the subversion or solution each chapter; serial fiction is a good look for you.
You can still eat applesauce? All those maggots are going to put me off for a good long time to come *shudder*

I'm in love with Sloane, I wonder how old she is? I get the feeling that the answer might surprise me, and I'm hoping it comes into the story. The way she fessed up was just magnificent.
Much older than anyone thinks.
I've been pondering the narrative's vested interest in seeing stories completed, and wondering how that jives with all the Snow Whites and Sleeping Beauties that keel over due to untended medical problems. It seems like that would lead to energy loss and unfulfilled stories.

One alternative theory I've already come up with is that the stories are segmented (since they are so often long strings of Lego in which Cinderella and the Swan Princes travel East of the Sun, West of the Moon), so the falling down asleep part releases energy for just that segment. But it's not elegant, so I'm waiting for something more elegant. I have faith that it will appear.
The stories are definitely segmented, and some of the "breaks" can be picked up by someone else by pulling a Goosegirl.
good
Thanks!
