To the west, to the west: Seanan is a Westercon Guest of Honor!
I am pleased to announce what some of you already know: that the 2015 Westercon will be held in scenic San Diego, California, and that I will be attending as their Fan Guest of Honor, thus checking off one of the only two slots remaining on my con guest bingo card! (The other, "Artist Guest," is unlikely to happen unless I start painting again, so I feel that I have now completed my duties.) The full lineup is:
Author Guest of Honor: Spider Robinson Artist Guest of Honor: John Picacio Special Guest: William F. Nolan
Westercon 68 will be held over the July 4th weekend in 2015 (July 2nd to 5th), and I very much hope to see you all there!
We just finished enjoying our first Westercon, and had been debating whether we'd want to travel to one that isn't in our backyard. As I mentioned on twitter, your announcement as Fan GoH settled that debate. We're definitely your groupies at this point. When we've been bringing Josh to your events since before he was born, it'd be hard to try and claim otherwise at this point. :)
Also, getting away from Sacramento in July is always a plus. Oy, the heat. The tomatoes love it, I do not.
he was awesome! I wound up buying 3 of his prints from him when they sold out there, and he (and his wife) were amazing, and now the other half has 3 awesome Elric cover art hanging above his computer area. With him and Seanan and family in SD, maybe 2014 needs a Westercon trip...
Unfortunately, I won't be there, but do try to have dinner with Spider - I was privileged to have him as a guest of honor when I ran Philcon, and he was such a charming and gracious fellow. And though I doubt he will remember me, if you see him, please pass on best wishes for him and Terri.
Having been blonde for two costumes this weekend, and having been told that both honey and cornsilk look good on me, I may be obligated to bleach my actual hair and be Polychrome for you either at Norwescon or this Westercon.
I just went to my first Westercon and may have to try to make San Diego (which doesn't look likely, but man, that guest list!) Westercon seems to be (from my one experience) a lot of fun, though that has something to do with the con chairs. It looks as though there's a good slate of people involved, though, so that argues for a good time overall.

Also have any cons brought in a sculptor or animator as artist GoH or has it all been image arts?

Sculptor, yes, animator, not that I know of.
