Ten things make a list, a list makes a post.

10. I haven't been posting much recently, and I'm sorry. I could make a lot of excuses, but at the end of the day, it boils down to one thing: I'm tired. I had a lot of deadlines hit all at once, and I've been spending the time that would normally go to blogging trying to "recharge my batteries" by doing things like cleaning out my inbox and re-dressing my many, many dolls. And on the one hand, I feel sort of like I'm failing you guys through my radio silence. But on the other hand, I feel like you'd rather have me alert and peppy than gloomy and drooping, so it'll all come out in the wash. Right?

9. Vericon was lovely; Boston was not, so much, since New England observes this season called "winter," and they celebrate it by leaving huge heaps of snow everywhere. Ev. Ery. Where. There were literally heaps of snow all over the place, and since I am a California girl, my tolerance for snow is basically non-existent. People kept asking me where my coat was. It's adorable how they assume they own one, isn't it?

8. But an old friend of mine showed up at my book signing, and brought me a PAX East scarf and several hugs, and that was lovely. Really, Boston was awesome for people: I saw Shawn, and Dave, and Nora, and Tammy, and Katy, and it was all splendid, and I have no regrets. So many hugs. I love hugs.

7. Oh, and then I found Carrie at the airport, as we were on the same flight home from Boston. She was quite ill. I fed her Pepto Bismol chewables and made her feel better. This is why I carry such things.

6. The cats are done being furious with me over my absence, and are now trying to love me so enthusiastically that I will never leave them again. For Thomas, this means a lot of flinging himself at me and trusting that I'll catch him. I have some really interesting scratches from where one of us misjudged the distance he was going to need to travel. Kitty love is pointy love.

5. My podiatrist has given me a prescription for...running shoes. Because that is the next rehabilitational step, after the walking boot that I've been in for the past month. Basically, they have the support and cushioning that I need, and they'll allow me to continue healing while also walking more normally. I have never been so excited about the prospect of putting my jeans back on, you have no idea.

4. I have so many deadlines in 2013, and some of them have been moved by other people, and it makes me pull my hair and whimper. But! I am triumphant thus far, and thanks to my compulsive list-making and passion for organizing my life, I am confident that I will be able to stay on top of them. As long as I don't get sick or distracted or forget to come home from Disney World in May (which is a genuine risk, let me tell you; Disney World is like a black hole for Seanans).

3. Jean Grey is no longer dead and I am not happy about that fact.

2. Zombies are, however, still love.

1. You all make me very happy, and I am glad that you're still here. I promise to try to be better about staying on top of things. I can't promise to succeed, but everything begins with trying.

I'm glad you're recharging, and I hope that you have a nice time in Disney World :)
Me, too!
I must research UncannyXMen.Net and learn when Jean Grey stopped being dead.
Sigh?
Sigh.

I grew up in the snow belt, and even though I've been living in California for over 30 years I still have my snowbelt coats. I'd offer to loan you one as needed, but I expect that by the time you next need one you'll no longer be living close by. Getting it to you might be more of a problem than the fit and style. Meanwhile, Warm Thoughts For Recovery Of Energy sent your way.

Isn't there a filk about Jean Grey ttto "The Cat Came Back"? Guess it needs another verse....

It sure does.
I wish you had time and energy to do everything you wanted and everything we wanted. But you don't, which is also kinda reassuring since I'm pretty sure I'll survive longer in a world without velociraptors, and while I love seeing your updates I don't want to think you're running yourself into the ground just to get them to us. (Updates OR velociraptors.)
I'd like velociraptors...
"Kitty love is pointy love."

THIS^^

People keep asking me why I have these scratches on my arms,
Because our kitties love us.
10. Right!

4. I love Disney.</p>

3. Wait, what?!

1. You do what you can when you can, we'll be here.

DISNEY FOREVER.
Honestly, I don't know how you blog as much as you do....you are so busy I've always wondered whether you actually have a time winder or similar device to accomplish it all.

Rest up - I know we'll all be here waiting to hear from you and wishing you well.
Thank you.
I haven't read the X-Men for many years, but I do know how Marvel works and don't sweat it about Jean Grey coming back from the dead (how many times is it now?) sooner or later she'll die again until they feel the need to resurrect her again.
I take solace in this.
Sometimes tired can be enough or a readon. I don't have your deadlines, but I do have depression that we're trying very hard to work out the right meds combo for, and I'm spending a lot of time just being tired. I'm so tired I can't even read most of the time, but when Midnight Blue-Light Special gets here (I had to order it online as the local bookshop closed that I used to get your books from), I'll make a special effort. I'm so looking forward to it!
I have deadlines and depression; it sucks. I hope you feel better, or at least less tired.

If you don't re-dress the dolls, they stay in their old clothes, and then they get bored, and then, suddenly, kersplosions.

Sorry I couldn't come wave at you from the queue on Vericon weekend. One of these years.
Someday!
Jean Grey is back again? Nooo. I'm about 15 graphic novels behind both Uncanny X-Men and X-Men Legacy (assuming those are even the current titles) and this makes me fear for the future. Unless this is all a setup to position Emma into kicking her ass, which I'll happily read over and over and over...
That. Would be. AMAZING.
oh, you silly thinblood west-coasters. every time one of you comes east i giggle a bit. but i have the same reaction when Floridians come north in any month that isn't summery. *they* pull out parkas in 50 degree weather. tee hee.

that said, i has a question. do you think, at some point, you might try to venture to Baltimore? maybe?
I go where I'm asked!
"Kitty love is pointy love."

Your world and my world are the same world.
They truly are.
You shouldn't be so hard on yourself, dear girl. ;) Taking care of Seanan is priority #1. Love and hugs.
I am trying!
For what little it's worth, I trust that you are busy with life when you go silent. You work harder than three of me would, you have so much more in medical issues that I think I need numbers that only a cuckoo would love to use as multipliers, and you have deadlines far more demanding than any that I've had in my entire life. And you're more entertaining in ten bullet points than I generally am in ten paragraphs. Considering how much I pay you to blog here, that's no kind of failure at all.

I was vaguely disappointed that item 5 did not include the observation that you once again wear the human pants.
BEHOLD!

FOR NOW I WEAR THE HUMAN PANTS!

I spent my flight to London this week reading/devouring the first 2 Incryptid novels. Eee! Great job! Inasmuch as it's possible to say this to you without pressuring you, of course, I look forward to reading more in this world, too. :)
Aw, yay, and thank you!

I am not pressured.
Congratulations on the footwear upgrade! I've been in a boot for the last three weeks (for a much less serious problem) ... it's not the thing I would have chosen to have in common with my favorite author
It suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks. But I like my running shoes.
Jean Grey. Kill it with fire. Like Picachu.

Best theatre moment ever: During set week.

Teenage volunteer: "Pi Ka Chu--"

From behind the curtain in full opera trained soprano: "KILL IT!"
AWESOME.
I've been struggling with fatigue this month, and it is the worst*

I owe you an email. Lucky for me, it's a long weekend.

* Disclaimer: lots of other things are also the worst.
*hug*
On #10, totally understandable. When you disappear from the Internet or take a while to respond to emails/comments, I tend to assume that burning your candle at both ends and anywhere else that will catch fire has caught up with you. Seriously, you manage to make Sarah and I look like we have loads of free time by comparison, needing time to recharge is totally reasonable.
Thank you, darlin'.
Thank you for venturing out to our semi-frozen state! It was wonderful getting to meet and chat with you for a little bit.
Yes!

I had a splendid time.
Yay for medical progress & recharging time!

Now I'm hearing "Pointy Kitty Love" to the tune of "Groovy Kind Of Love."

:)
Hee.

It works.
