Everybody loves a little carnage.

I am pleased to announce that my story, "Red as Snow," will be appearing in the December issue of Fiction River, subtitled Hex in the City. Need more details on Fiction River? Look no further than this link. But, you know. I'm going to give more details anyway, because I'm that kind of girl.

This is a monthly anthology series, each issue focusing on a different theme. December is the month of urban fantasy, but they've covered an amazing range of subjects already, and I'm incredibly excited to see where they're going to go from here.

"Red as Snow" is an Istas-narrated story, which is a first for me. It's also the first story set in the InCryptid universe but not centering on any member of the Price-Healy family. Instead, it's about Istas, and Ryan, and parasols, and pizza. And carnage, of course. You can't have waheela without carnage.

This is a new chapter in the expansion of the greater InCryptid universe, and I couldn't be more excited about it. December 2013! Mark your calendars, and prepare for impact.

Yay!

ISTAS! Yay!
Yes!
I'm very excited because I have a story appearing in Hex in the City, too! Sharing a table of contents with you is a true honor.
Oh, wow! That's awesome! What's yours about?

*SQUEE* As someone who raced through InCryptid #2 and loved every second of Istas's appearances (and may I add how cute she and Ryan are together? Badass and sweet and it makes me smile), I am really looking forward to this! I am craving more of Istas. (and my girlfriend is hoping to see more Tanuki, as she loves them). HAIL ISTAS!

\Also, got my mom addicted to InCryptid. Now going to start her on Toby Daye, as she's an urban fantasy addict like me :3 Thank you!
Hee, yay!
HAIL MILADY CARNIVORE!

I mean, I look forward to reading this.
I understood your message. :)
HAIL CARNAGE AND LEFTOVERS.
HAIL!
Awesome! Carnage and parasols compliment each other excellently.
They really do.
And it is FUCKING FANTASTIC.
Aw, who's braggy?
That high pitched "EEEEEEE" you just heard was me, squealing with delight at Istas having her very own story.

Yes, yes, I have deafened you all. I AM NOT SORRY.
Um. It wasn't just you. Just saying. :D \o/

“We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see.”

Yes.

It's aaaaaaall blood.
*Swoon* very cool

Istas and the mice was...one of the the most terrifyingly heart-warming scenes ever and more of her would be very cool
No mice, but lots of Istas.
Giddy at the thought of gleefully girding myself for gory bits, galore!
Ping me a few weeks before release if you want a review copy.
Yay, Istas! She is one of my absolute favorite characters in the series. It's a competitive list, but she's definitely in the top five. Maybe the top three.
I am so glad!
An Istas story? That just made my day!
Yay!
I'll have to look for this later in the year, because I love Istas and her interesting taste in clothes.
I love her too.
More Istas is fun. I look forwards to it.
Yay!
A story from Istas' POV? I'm in! Midnight Blue-light Special reminded me just how much I like Istas. :)
I like writing her, but gosh is she hard.
YOU WROTE AN ISTAS STORY!
Yes!

And I am planning two more!
I just yesterday thought "I wonder how long till we get an Istas book" (followed by "I wonder how much donation to that thing mentioned earlier would be needed to get an Istas short story in the meantime?..") so freakin huzzah for that!
It's a bit annoying not to be able to preorder the ebook, but I'm sure you'll remind me closer to the release date, and I'll be just as keen to buy it immediately at that point as I was now
Probably no book any time soon, because she's surprisingly difficult to write, but definitely more shorts.
Of all the NYCryptid gang you could've picked for a side story, I don't think you could do any better than Istas & Ryan. Swiftly approved! Yay!
Yay!
As you know, any new InCryptid story excites me greatly! Thanks for sharing the news.
Very welcome.
YAY!!!
Glee. :)
Yay for more backstories!

You are rather bad for my bank account, but excellent for my brain and my Hugo nominations. I've purchased this year's hardcopy subscription. Now I need to be sure I take notes on new authors and fabulous stories for next Hugo go-round.

Also, my brain is really whacked. My dreams last night included a local version of your InCryptid universe vs. the Secret of NIMH rats. It was epic on a rat-sized scale.
That's...really awesome.
ISTAS! Hail the approaching carnage!

And I was looking through the themes for the upcoming Fiction River volumes and may have just purchased a year's subscription.
HAIL!
