Shiny bits for a February day.

This is one of those days that calls to mind the opening line of Clive Barker's classic The Thief of Time: "The great gray beast February had eaten Harvey Swick alive." February is a monster, and we're all being digested. In an effort to slow the process, here are a few interesting things from my link file.

Susan, who is splendid, and who makes amazing hand-crafted leather goods, is making leather wrist straps with the Ashes of Honor ding bat on them (with my permission, naturally). That's not all she has to offer (my cats love her catnip toys, for example). Check her out!

Here are some rejected warning signs for you. I basically want to put these all around my house, especially "Annnnnnnnd...you're infected." That, and "We Apologize For What is About to Occur," which may eventually be the title of one of my books.

Publishers Weekly did a profile on me and it's pretty much amazing. I'm just saying.

Also I went on the SF Signal Podcast and spent like, an hour talking about television and how the Syfy Channel Saturday night movies have lost their integrity. You can listen to the whole thing here. Warning: It turns out I swear a lot. Who knew?

In other news, I really need to do a couple of mega review round-ups; my link file is currently threatening to eat my soul in the night, and that would be bad.

Happy Wednesday!

LOVE the signs. :D The Velveteen one was cute too.
Agreed.
Also LAUGHING MY ASS OFF listening to the SF Signal Podcast. You are a riot, you know. And yes, you have a potty mouth. :D
I've never denied it!
Lovely article! And, enjoy: http://www.lukejerram.com/glass/

That, and "We Apologize For What is About to Occur," which may eventually be the title of one of my books.

Could be a good title for an eventual memoir...
Oh, good point.
Those signs = hilarious! They rival my previous favorite, "You should have bought a squirrel," lol!
Hee.
Regarding warning signs... see userpic. (That was considered the height of intellectual humor among my fellow overachieving seventh-graders, back in the Pleistocene.)
You double-majored in folklore/mythology and herpetology. Damn, woman! You are so many kinds of awesome. I was double majoring in zoloogy and history at Michigan State before I had to leave for financial reasons and people are always like, "Why would you major in zoology and history?" Because that's what I'm interested in, so why the hell not? As much as I enjoy blowing people's minds with my refusal to conform to the categories they want to shove me into, it really starts to wear on the nerves after a while, know what I mean? I have the wheels in motion to finish up my BA in history (the animal end of things is more than taken care of in other ways), and I fully intend to go to England for my MA in history.

The failed warning signs are love. Thanks for sharing.
High-five for weird major combos!
Can you be anymore awesome? CAN YOU? Probably and that would be okay. Okay okay I am fangirling, so what. LOL. Great article and dang it, you are awesome. Srsly.

I am one of those who was way into Mira Grant before trying out your UF and yup, I loved Incryptid. :)

I still want more Grant though... LOL!

Patience, patience, I know...

Good luck with the Hugos!
Thank you!

Whee!
The Superman sign is where I absolutely lost it.
Seriously.
Publishers Weekly? Impressive!
It was a fun interview!
So I'm in the process of listening to all the Squeecasts in a row (I'm might not be completely sane afterward) and just discovered if you play the intro to a Squeecast while the outro is still playing from the previous, you get a somewhat psychedelic experience.
Doo doo do doooo...
The SF Signal Podcast is fun!
Yay!

Digestive problems?

[mwah!]
...heh.
hey, query for you - is pre-ordering ebooks of Midnight Blue-Light Special good for your numbers, or is it better to wait and just buy it release day? Because Amazon is starting to send me the "hey, you seem to love this author, oh look she's going to have another book CLICK HERE" messages, and I want to do it whichever way works better for promoting the awesome that is these books, as long as, you know, I get to read it.
However you want to do it, do it. As long as it's a sale, it counts!
This icon is one of my favorite signs.

I keep thinking of you at work, because the doors have electronic locks that flash green when you badge at them, unless they flash red. On some notable occasions, they are alternating green and red, which unnerves me greatly.
ZOMBIES COMING.
