Twenty-five days to MIDNIGHT BLUE-LIGHT SPECIAL.

There are twenty-five days remaining before the release of Midnight Blue-Light Special, the second book in the InCryptid series. I am...I'm still not quite sure that I believe it, honestly. This is such a difficult series to explain to people, because it's so silly and so serious at the same time, and I'm still a little bit in awe of the fact that I'm allowed to write it.

Thank you, thank you, to everyone who's taken a chance on this series. Thank you for looking at my pink, pink cover and my silly, silly cover blurb, and going "Sure, this is worth my time and/or dollars." Thank you for reading and reviewing and spreading the word. I honestly couldn't be here without you.

Thank you also to my agent, and to everyone at DAW Books, because let's face it, I can be a little odd sometimes, and when an author who's doing pretty well with a dark urban fantasy series says "I wanna write something with talking mice," you'd be forgiven for being a little, well, hesitant. But they didn't hesitate. They said "Seanan has done good things with strange concepts before, and they let me have my weird little world full of cryptids and blood feuds and secrets.

There are not enough thanks in the world for what I'm feeling right now.

Thank you all.

Looking forward to it :))
Yay!
Thank You, for doing what you do. I, for one, enjoy it immensely and my world would be diminished for the loss if it.
*huggle*
You are so welcome. *hug*
Huzzah! I just gave _Discount Armageddon_ to a friend and he was delighted to learn of a new Seanan McGuire series.
Thank you!
Very impatient for it to come out. Sadly it comes out right after consonance so I can't pester you to sign it *grin*

The world would be a much, much sadder place without talking mice and badass ballroom dancers.
Aw, thank you.
How would you prefer we buy it? Which method benefits you most- buying from Amazon, preordering from Amazon, buying from a local bookseller? Also, will you be doing signed books for Borderlands Books again? I know you were for Christmas orders (my brother loved his signed copy of InCryptid #1) Really excited to read it - might buy a paper and a Kindle copy.
Oooh, good question!

As soon as Discount Armageddon came out I was eager to get my hands on it. I adore the pink, pink cover! I've been nudging my reading friends to try all your books.
Thank you. <3
YAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!
Glee.
I'll make an announcement at my book club on Monday. We read and enjoyed discussing Discount Armageddon, so I'm sure everyone will be wanting this Midnight, too.
Thank you!
I've got mine pre-ordered! Seriously looking forward to it. I must re-read DA before the new one comes out, so I'm fresh. I'm not surprised that your publishers took a gamble on you and let you branch out, you've shown that you are no one trick pony and that you can make many different worlds real.
Thank you.
Totally random memory triggered by the talking mice comment.

I no longer drink coffee after 3 pm because it lingers in the brain too long. I decided this after one memorable night when, while under the influence, I had a waking dream ... of two mice in a basket attached to the ceiling by cord and a pulley. They were letting themselves down to the ground in it.
At least they were observing proper safety precautions?

Good for all of them for giving you the opportunity, and recognising that sometimes good ideas defy explanation. Try reverse-engineering some of the most wonderful artworks - music, comedy sketch, image - and you'll come up with something that may sound a little nuts.

You follow your vision and your story, hon, and we'll follow you. And stop for a picnic on the way from time to time. :-)
I think we need to have a picnic very soon.

That's AWESOME.
Thank you for writing it. Preordered in paperback and the only reason it isn't preordered as an ebook *too* is that it's not available for ebook preorder.
I don't know why not, but hopefully it will be soon.
Hurrah! Is there a desktop wallpaper available yet? Not that I don't mind seeing Toby every day, but Verity and Sarah would be a nice change.
It doesn't look like it, but there are icons.

"I wanna write something with talking mice,"

Blessed be the people at DAW Books for not hesitating! ((Hail!))
Because those mice never fail to bring a huge smile on my face. (Not to mention a B5-quoting cuckoo....)

Looking forward to more InCryptids!
Those mice truly gave me some great laugh out loud moments, and I don't do that easily.

I think the whole concept is great and so very Seanan McGuire. It's no wonder they went with it.

Personally, I've been a little bit in love with the mice ever since I first read a story with them in. I'm very glad for every chance I get to find out more about them and the crazy family they live with.

So, thank you, and thank you DAW. Cheese and Cake!
Cheese! And! Cake!
I'm so glad they took a chance on it, because while I like all your books, I am in love with the Aeslin mice. I can't explain why they make me so ridiculously happy, but when I talk about your writing to people, they're what I talk about. (Just like my "No really. You must read Digger. There are VAMPIRIC SQUASH" line is how I talk up Ursula Vernon.)
*keeps fingers crossed that someday Brennan, McGuire, and Vernon will collaborate*
*keeps fingers crossed that, on that day, the world doesn't blow up*
*waits for Midnight Blue-Light Special in the meantime*

Thank you for looking at my pink, pink cover and my silly, silly cover blurb, and going "Sure, this is worth my time and/or dollars."

Yes, the cover was pink. But I strongly disagree with the allegation of silliness in the cover blurb.
Aw, thanks.
Looking forward to it. Don't worry, by now all the book needs is your name on it, and I'll buy and read it. In Seanan I trust. :)
You rock.
Because I'm waiting on word about a cross-country transfer, I haven't been preordering things like I usually do. With only 25 days left (YAY), I thought I'd be pretty safe. But there's no Kindle version? I totally get that formats are not within your control, but do you happen to know if there will be one?

I'll dead-tree it if there's no other option, but after moving 10 times in the past 8 years (twice internationally, once cross-country), I'm trying to save my aching back by cutting down on the physical ownership stuff.
I honestly don't know if there will be; this is a question for my publisher. I assume there will? But I do not know.

Thank you for writing the series, and to your publisher for taking the chance. We're looking forward to the new book, and love the setting. Especially the mice - we've been teaching Josh that mice say Hail!, though we may come to regret that later...
Hee hee hee.

Josh is the BEST miniature human.
I've gushed enthusiastically about your books to my local independent bookstore owner. He said "Funnily enough, you're not the first person to mention this author." He said that he'd definitely start stocking your books, and would be getting in touch with DAW in order to facilitate that. Hooray! \o/

Also, I've already ordered my copy of Midnight Blue-Light Special through the Book Depository, and I can't WAIT to read it. :-)
That's wonderful, thank you!
Three cheers for the book! (And for your music choice, I must add. :)
Glee. :)
Can't wait to read it! I already have it preordered.
Huzzah!
I'm looking forward to it. This is such a fascinating, rich world you've created and Verity is a wonderfuly smart and witty guide to it.

I can't wait to read more of her adventures and learn more of the back story of the Prices and the Covenant.
Thank you!
