How about a sentence from the Velveteen adventure in which she's asked to act as the go-between when all the Holiday Seasons decide to abandon Earth-A entirely?

The absence of the Seasonal Lands had been theorized as the beginning of the end of magic and the dawn of a new age of reason, one in which super science would merely be science, and flying men would be against the laws of physics, although not exempt from the laws of gravity.
