I put the idea to Katie (11) and Abby (7), and here's what they came up with.Abby: A member of the faerie court falls ill; despite the many talents of their own doctors, the faeries are forced to find a human doctor for the faerie to survive.</p>
Katie: Somehow a hill-sized ogre (means well, but clumsy, dopey) becomes trapped in the humans' world. She notes that hill sized means like the hills behind Cal State-East Bay, and they eat deer, trees, and rocks.
The wonders of the hill and the magics of the tree were theirs to know, but ah, the strange magic of "group insurance," that was slightly beyond their ken.
Katie:
"You said I could have a pet," said Katie, with the inexorable logic of the pre-teen girl, while behind her on the hill, her "puppy" chewed serenely on a Pinto.
Thanks, fabulous Seanan! I laughed out loud here at my office (leading my co-workers to wonder what I was up to this time ...), and I know our girls will love both that you responded to their requests and your hysterically funny responses!
