The first mob of zombies to develop self-awareness (as a collective like a beehive rather than as individuals) and how they came to negotiate a peace treaty of a sort....

The difficulty with zombies was mutual acceptance: you had to accept that they weren't here to eat you, and they had to accept that people would be angry if they did.
