The winner is!...and another drawing.

And the winner of Velveteen vs. The Junior Super Patriots is...

geekhyena!

geekhyena, please send me your mailing information via my website contact form within the next twenty-four hours. If I do not receive your information, I will select another winner.

Speaking of selecting another winner, it's time for another drawing. This one is something I've been meaning to do for a while: a good faith drawing.

Look. Times are tough right now, and with the holidays coming, a lot of us don't have a huge amount of disposable income. I know a $25 hardcover isn't always in my budget, even when I really really want it. So that is what this drawing is for. If you want a copy but can't afford it, please comment to let me know you'd like to be entered. I will select a winner on Tuesday morning.

I don't need to know why you can't afford the book; I just ask that you only enter if you genuinely can't find the dollars right now. That way, we make things a little more level for everybody.

Same region rules as last time: US welcome, non-US only if you can pay postage. And because this has come up before, if you're in the US and would like to volunteer to pay postage for a non-US resident, you can. For this drawing, comment on the main entry if you can pay non-US postage, and while that comment won't win, I will be able to go back to it if someone from outside the US does.

If this works, I'll try to do it again. Let's spread some holiday cheer...FOR JUSTICE!

ETA: This drawing is now closed. Thank you!

This is a lovely thing for you to do. Thank you! (I'm not asking to be entered, I just wanted to let you know I thought it was a cool thing to do).
I cannot afford the book, I would love to be entered, and thank you very much for doing this.

I'm in the US.
Aww, this is really nice.

(You didn't say which book. Velveteen?)

Not entering, as I can sorta afford it. Hope this goes well. :D
Yup, Vel.
Non-US, but have a US-based drop box where they will send stuff on to me.

I wish I lived in a country where hardbacks only cost $25. Here in New Zealand, they're more likely to be around the $NZ60-$NZ70 ($US48-$US57) mark. I've seen some newer, limited-edition hardbacks for as much as $NZ90 ($US73). :-/
Geeze, and I thought Canada having a $5-10 buck markup on books was bad.

*pats*
I'm in the US and want to volunteer to pay postage to support a non-US winner. I know that by saying this instead of entering the drawing, this comment is not a winner, and that is a good thing because really, I can afford to buy the book.

(Yeah, I'm a little confused on the instructions.)
You did it right. :) Thank you very much for volunteering.

I am in the US and would love to be entered, as my number-crunching has not been successful in squeezing books out of my budgetary stones lately unless they came used off dollar racks.
I can pay for a copy and postage, if you'd like to give away two.
Ditto, if you care to make that 3. Feel free to PM to make arrangements.

I just lost my job so I am definitely not in the position to pay for books at the moment. Thank goodness I have a backlog of stuff to read. But I'd love a copy of this to add to my stack!

In the US. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the opportunity!

I'm in the US, and my superpower would be having things take as long to complete as I plan for them to. I would be able to get my errands done and still be on time for preschool pick up. Not only will dinner be ready when I expect it to be, but the entree and side dishes will be good to go at the same time b
Thank you for doing this (and I recall enough of your history from previous posts to understand exactly why you are). I would like to enter, and as I am Bay-Area based, I am willing to meet up with you to collect if the RNG smiles upon me. (Seeing what your schedule tends to look like, if I can help you make one fewer trip to the Post Awful during the holiday season, I'm happy to do it.)
You continually impress me with how sensitive you can be. I've had the tab for Velveteen open since you mentioned it before, and I've been debating whether I could figure out a way to justify it because I REALLY REALLY want the book. (Velveteen and Sparrow Hill Road were how I discovered your writing, so they hold a special place in my heart! <3) After some never-fun number crunching, I decided that since I'm even in a place to debate the question, I'll just order it and let someone who's maybe in a worse position than me benefit from your generosity.

...That was a long way of saying that you're amazing, and I'm not entering because I just went ahead and ordered it! Yay!
I can't afford the book right now and would really, really love to have it. I'm in the US.

As an aside, you are racking up some serious awesome karma points for this, it's a lovely thing to do for someone!
I've been struggling to get by this semester and would love a copy of Velveteen vs. I'm also US-based. Thank you for being as aware of these sorts of problems as you are (I know there's a reason for it, but it's still something I appreciate a great deal). May the Great Pumpkin bless you this holiday season.
You are the loveliest person! Thank you for this opportunity! I can't afford the book right now, and I live in the US.

I'd love a copy and would like to be entered. I live in the US.
I would love a copy. I will definitely be getting one, but I will have to wait for a used copy or the paperback, if I don't win.
I think you know why I'm entering. :/

In any case, I'd love a copy, and I still live in the US.
Have been beaten to it, but likewise volunteering for postage donation if you end up doing this again.
non-US and how I would love to be in the running.
I covet the Velveteen, but since I just blew my limited savings on moving to a new city, my leisure budget is imaginary. I am in the US. And I love the idea of this drawing almost as much as I love Velveteen stories, so thank you for being awesome.
Non-US

I could probably afford the book OR the postage but not both, so I would like to be entered into the draw
I'm non-US and would love a copy. This is pretty much the only way I'll get one :/

Also, you are so amazing for doing this <3
Non-US. I can't afford the book but I can afford the postage, and I'm entering because I've been too sick (a combination of physical and mental ill-health) to work lately and so am scraping to pay bills etc., but if the random selection process smiles upon me I am determined to find a way to afford the postage.
I'm outside the US, but am fortunate enough to be able to buy your books (and do!), so would be happy to pay non-US resident postage for a winner.
