A giveaway! FOR JUSTICE!

I have copies of Velveteen vs. The Junior Super Patriots, and guys, it is a pretty, pretty book. Very solid, very well-designed and awesome. And that means I should give a couple of copies away.

This is the first giveaway. It is open to all, with the caveat that if you are outside the United States, you must be willing to pay postage if you win. I am sorry about that, but I can't afford international postage right now. If that's cool with you, yay! If it's not, I really am sorry, and hopefully will win the lottery soon.

To enter, leave a comment with your location (US/non-US), and what super power you would have if you lived in Velveteen's universe. Winners will be selected via random number generator, BUT! If you don't include everything above, you cannot win.

I will randomly select a winner on Sunday, November 18th, so that I can mail the book before Thanksgiving.

Good luck! Game on!

My superpower would be to emit a directed calming field. Especially at babies.

(seriously, who brings a 6-month-old baby to the symphony? I know it's Brahm's Lullaby, but it doesn't make it okay!)
US.

I would have rather spotty telepathy. I'd get frighteningly accurate reads, but at random times and on random people.
US, and I've been joking for years that I should have the entirely frustrating superpower of magically solving problems, but only for other people, never for myself.
New Zealand -- Teleportation and the ability to take people with me so my family could see my US family more often.

Yay Velveteen!
US address.

Superpower - voluntary ability to have extra minutes alternating between everyone else's minutes. That way maybe I could get enough sleep and still accomplish twice as much as I already do. Plus it would be fun to watch people get stopped in really weird configurations. :)
My superpower would be antigrav boobs. With a side order of teleportation.

I live in the US.

:-)

I'm in the US. My superpower would be the ability to transmutate nuclear isotopes between radioactive and nonradioactive varieties.

Power to communicate with animals. Seems like fun to me!

The ability to know the answer to any question I am point-blank asked. Would probably need to add the limitation that the asker could not know of the power.

...that's been done, hasn't it. Blast it. Feels familiar now. (If anyone happens to see this and recog's, please let me know!)

The power I'd really like though is languages.
US address.

I would have the power to move objects with my mind... but only if they were individually the same weight as a regulation ping pong ball. No more or less. There ought to be interesting things I could manage with that. (Hey! I could raise sunken ships! Thanks Mythbusters!)

I would have excellent night vision and scathing sarcasm?
US - As far as a super power, I'd choose to have an impecable sense of direction.

*Also praying to the delties of luck*
US address.

My power would be to help people forget unpleasant experiences.

Time Stop
Freezing time for short periods to handcuff bad guys or shoot a lot at supervillains (rubber bullets and tear gas an option). For an example and a great anime see Madoka Magica - an awesome deconstruction of the magic girl genre and the price they pay for power. A small 'pocket dimension' for weapons n stuff would be a good side ability - as time and space are related (Einstein). - power also used by Screech from Saved by the Bell
Possible superhero name: Kronos
US - Pittsburgh, PA

My power would be the ability to create order from chaos (or even just garden-variety clutter and messiness) by means of invoking each item's innate knowledge of where it belongs and imbuing said items with the ability to return "home." I think that makes sense. I can see it in my head.

(That this is my ideal superpower is probably a result of the many homeward school bus rides during my childhood which I spent wishing really, really hard that my room would magically clean itself before I got home, though I am sure it also reflects my current state of being mom to a toddler-shaped hurricane and a husband who's pathologically unable to see clutter or figure out where it should go.)

For a superpower, as a preschool teacher, I would love the ability to calm a child instantaneously. Somewhat for the temper tantrums. Mostly for naptime, when the little darlings have no desire to settle and sleep, but my sanity requires that they do that! :D
US

The power to teleport. Popping in on people unexpectedly would be amazingly amusing.

I'm in the US (Portland, OR) and as for super power... that's a hard one! I will have to go with the power to call on the assistance and allegiance of cats, with a special love of Siamese cats and white tigers. :D
US
I want to have the power of knowing everything ever written down, with photographic accuracy. So...basically the Archive from the Dresden Files.
US

I've always wanted the ability to force choke people over an internet connection. It would be really handy for work. *blink, blink, smile*

I would want the superpower of being able to animate inanimate objects. Just think of all the statues and dolls and gargoyles I could get to help me! :)
USA

I'd have the power to remove 90% of the calories & fat from any food or drink without affecting its other characteristics -- for example, taste & texture.

OTOH, that would probably make me BFF with all the female Super Patriots & a few of the male ones as well. I suppose I'll risk it.

USA, Telepathy all the way, with a bit of telepathy I think I could save us all.

Thank you for the freebie.

Also thank you for writing. Love your books more with every re-read.

I would want the power to always be right. It would make me an insufferable know it all, but still I would find it extremely satisfying.
