A giveaway! FOR JUSTICE!

I have copies of Velveteen vs. The Junior Super Patriots, and guys, it is a pretty, pretty book. Very solid, very well-designed and awesome. And that means I should give a couple of copies away.

This is the first giveaway. It is open to all, with the caveat that if you are outside the United States, you must be willing to pay postage if you win. I am sorry about that, but I can't afford international postage right now. If that's cool with you, yay! If it's not, I really am sorry, and hopefully will win the lottery soon.

To enter, leave a comment with your location (US/non-US), and what super power you would have if you lived in Velveteen's universe. Winners will be selected via random number generator, BUT! If you don't include everything above, you cannot win.

I will randomly select a winner on Sunday, November 18th, so that I can mail the book before Thanksgiving.

As far as super powers go: I realize it's not quirky or random or funny, but in a sheer practical sense, it's hard to go wrong with a nice versatile shapeshifting power-set. Either that or superhealing.

I'm in the US.

My power would be to transfer buffs/debuffs to people depending on whatever song has been stuck in my head for more than two days. I'd call myself the Scarlet Earworm and dress in shades of blue for maximum confusion, so people wouldn't know it was me and would be less likely to target me.

Austin, TX! If I were a Velveteen 'verse superhuman, I'd be Tempest as a hero and Maelstrom as a villain, and my power would be weather control related to my emotional state. The Super Patriots, Inc. would be subject to many, many, many storms once I got free of them.

According to MemeGen, I have X-ray vision, but really, I wouldn't mind having Vel's powers.

I would have the ability to create viable baby animals from random piles of shed fur. Note that in my house, this would result in cat/dog crosses, which could be dangerous. Tollers are smart enough, without crossing them with devious kitties.

No one would ever know I had a superpower, because it would be something like the baking the perfect cookie or mixing the perfect drink

Actually, I'd like Velveteen's power over toys - getting the Younger Daughter's plush cats and Pokemon (and my tigers and hedgehogs) to help clean the house would be awesome. Not to mention that it'd totally freak out the Resident Felines, heh heh heh.

I'm in New Zealand, but I have a dropbox in Portland, OR that you can send stuff to and they'll send it on to me.

I would choose teleportation. Cuts down on travel time and costs, and means that I'd be able to see my friends in the US without having to deal with passports, eighteen-hour plane rides, layovers, and the TSA. I'd just need to make sure I got my time zones right. :-)

As for what power I'd have, I'd think an aura of unflappability. I'm not actually that calm, but for some reason I'm perceived as the calm, sensible one. Including by people who have seen me freak the fuck out. Actually, if I expand that to 'aura of competence' that would be really handy on job interviews. Or for a career in politics: I may have no clue what I'm doing, but people who meet me have this feeling that I'll fix things in State Capital/Washington/etc.

Personally, I'd rather have flight. But we take what we can get.

I am in the United States, and my superpower would be speed-reading. This is actually a power the Junior Super Patriots don't want, because it would mean that I might actually notice the fine print on the contract!

I would want the super-power to re-do specific hours of my life - sort of like the Time-Turner. I also want to fly and have super metabolism.

I'm a USian in the state of Virginia, and... hmm. I think I would have the superpower either to talk to horses (because I am secretly twelve), or to draw objects from books as needed. I hesitate to include that last one because, yeah, I basically want to be a libromancer and everything in Jim Hines's book of the same name is relevant to my interests, but... it's still the one I want. So.

I would have the power to generate instant plaid shirts that comes with the companion power to spontaneously collect a group of people to game with.... Its been way too long since I've had a regular gaming group for some tabletop gaming wether it be role playing or board gaming....
