It's October! It's October! The most wonderful month of the year!

At last it is October, the month I spend the rest of the year yearning for. When it's October, everything is wonderful, even when it's not. When it's not October, I'm wishing that it were October again. There's a reason that Marnie Piper and the Cromwell witches are some of my favorite Disney (semi) icons.

After a weird two-day heatwave, we've settled into sweet fall, with foggy skies and color-changing leaves and everything. The Maine Coons are growing their winter coats, and thumping around the house like the tiny yeti that they secretly are. (Okay, local definition of "tiny." Thomas has hit the size where even I can't pretend that he's anything but massive. It's just that he still has kitten-face, and I fear what this says about his next growth spurt. He's going to eat me.)

The season's first treat has already been mentioned: Feed is still $1.99, and will be for the next two weeks. Yay! We're currently hovering in the Kindle 600s, which isn't bad for a book that's been out for two years. More treats will be forthcoming, once I know what they are. And of course, at the end of the month, When Will You Rise comes out from Subterranean, and that's sort of the ultimate treat. I cannot wait to see this book with my own eyes!

I'm hosting the SFWA Pacific Northwest Readings for this month, and I'm going to Disneyland with my fairy tale girls immediately afterward, so it's going to be a busy October, and that's just fine. I have a lot of work to do and a lot of experience at doing it, so I'm going to rock it.

Did I tell you I finally got to try candy corn? After I finished going DEAR GODS THAT'S SWEET, I thought, 'Hmmm. No wonder Seanan has so much energy to write if she's eating this stuff.' You are a sugar-fuelled pumpkin princess, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Down Under, we've just hit our first thirty degree (Celsius) day, which we normally wouldn't get until later in the month, if not in November. The amount of green in the front yard just hit me tonight, when I was letting Toby and Cedric in (naughty boys had been out in the dark) and I could see how the rosebushes had gone from brown to lush without me noticing. I feel like summer will be early this year, but I hope October lasts for a good while yet, both for you and for me, because October is a pretty fine month in my world too, and part of that stems from reading your enthusiasm about it.

Seanan! I don't normally post here, but I had to share. There's a blog called Law and the Multiverse (http://lawandthemultiverse.com/ (http://lawandthemultiverse.com/)) that covers legal questions for superheros. More than likely I imagine you know about it, but on the off chance you don't...

Wanted to share. (probably I'm like those people who discover Firefly now, after everything, and are excited about it and everyone else is like, duh, we told you it was awesome years ago.

Had inspiration for a new Halloween dress to replace the one where I cut the sleeves in such a way that the stretch goes the wrong way. I added gussets right after I sewed it, but it's not ideal, to say the least. This new one will be black with pink accents, the old one was black with dark red trim.

Got my t-shirts! I thought I ordered a 4x, but I'm guessing I changed it to a 3x later on, because that is what In received (so unless you get a note from someone saying they ordered a 3x maroon but got a 4x maroon, please please please do not consider this anything but information to be disregarded at your leisure).

October is the BEST month and not just because it's my birthday month :D School's back in full swing (I was a weird kid that loved back to school time), leaves falling, cooler weather, the excitement of the coming snow and Halloween! The best holiday ever!
