Fun with Hugo trivia.

I made history three times this year.

Wicked Girls was the first single-artist CD (as opposed to a compilation) ever to be nominated for the Hugo Award.

I was the first woman ever to be nominated four times in a single year, although several men had managed to accomplish that particular hat trick.

I was the first person ever to be nominated four times in a single year...and actually win something. Every other four-timer has proceeded to lose all four times, thus providing that splitting your voting block is a dangerous thing.

Thankfully, this third bit of "making history" was not pointed out to me until the absolute last minute, since otherwise, I think I would still be under my bed, hissing madly at anyone who tried to poke a stick under there and get my attention. (I know my friends. Many sticks would be involved.) We're talking full-on "Seanan goes feral," which differs from "Seanan goes wild" in that it features less naked, more bitey.

I am still a little bit stunned.

Are they mutually exclusive? :)

And once again, well deserved congratulations.
No, not really...
Wasn't Wicked Girls also the first filk item ever on the ballot? So that's four, isn't it?

Second. "The Philk Fee-Nom-Ee-Non ed. by Paul J. Willett" was nominated in fanzine in 1984 and did not win. I was hoping Seanan would be making history with the first filk win. (Also, Seanan is not the first filker to win a hugo. That has been done by at least 2 other filkers. Juanita Coulson and Joe Haldeman are the two I know of.)

I knew about 2 of the hugo trivia items, but I had no clue how the other 4 nom people had done in the past.

And winning in the fancast category made its own history because you won it in the first time that Hugo was ever given out.
True!
Ustream is going to show the complete Hugos on Sunday "as live" - partly to make up for their bots shutting down the feed on Neil Gaiman. I'm looking forward to watching you squee
Awesome.
also, COMPLETELY randomly, I found an adorable picture of a mama and baby hairless cat on the internets today and thought you might like to look at it.

KITTIES.
I am just so happy for you!
Thank you!
I have no doubt that, barring disappearance by TARDIS, you'll win your novel and CD Hugos. That said, I think it's phenomenal that your first Hugo came for fan work. You've never developed that reflexive fandom-related eye-roll condition that successful authors so often contract  (or if you have, you willfully suppress it, which is effectively the same thing), and your refusal to dismiss fandom, to belittle or be embarrassed by it -- your deep-seated belief in its potential, if not its every manifestation -- is an incredibly important part of what you do and what you have to say.

When your next rocket lands, it won't be because you've left something behind. It'll be because you've brought it with you.
I think it's lovely, too. But I admit, it would be very nice to win for writing, since that's what impacts how much I get paid.
And we are awfully proud.
I'm proud of you.
Oh, hell to the yeah! *high-five* Congrats!
Well-earned, in my humble opinion. Sorry that I missed you at Borderlands again. One of these days I will make it for a release of yours if I have to build my own transporter to get there. (Grissom will handle the beaming up/down.) Congratulations!
Thank you!
Very pleased you managed to break that hoodoo. Information like that is never good to find out before the event. so glad you didn't find that one until after you'd broken it. Asjhes of Honor was awesome, too btw. Eagerly awaiting next September.
I am so relieved.
Totally happy dance! Next year, I'm sure you'll win more Hugos - the books keep getting more awesome! Congrats!
Here's hoping!
Yay! And yay again!
Glee.
