Chicon set list.

I'm a little under the weather (and totally exhausted) following Chicon 7, the 2012 World Science Fiction Convention, but that doesn't mean that I get to neglect everything forever. More's the pity. I had a wonderful time, when I wasn't a giant vibrating ball of stress, and I am remain honored and delighted by all the great things people said and did in my presence.

As is the custom around here, I now present the Chicon set list, with arrangement notes. It was a great show, and our song choices went as follows:

1. "The Sealskin and the Story and the Sky." (Seanan, vocals; Vixy Dockrey, vocals; Tony Fabris, guitar; Mary Crowell, piano; Betsy Tinney, cello; Amy McNally, fiddle; Brenda Sutton, bodhran.)
2. "Counting Crows." (Seanan, vocals; Vixy, vocals; Tony, guitar; Mary, piano; Betsy, cello; Amy, fiddle; Brenda, bodhran.)
3. "Mama Said." (Seanan, vocals; Vixy, vocals; Tony, guitar; Mary, piano; Betsy, cello; Amy, fiddle; Brenda, coconut shells.)
4. "The Ghost of Lilly Kane." (Seanan, vocals; Mary, piano; Amy, fiddle.)
5. "Dear Gina." (Seanan, creepy vocals; Vixy, extra creepy vocals; Mary, creepy piano; Betsy, creepy cello; Amy, creepy fiddle.)
6. "Still Catch the Tide." Talis Kimberley cover. (Seanan, vocals; Vixy, vocals; Tony, guitar; Mary, piano; Betsy, cello; Amy, fiddle; Brenda, bodhran.)
7. "Dare to Dream." (Seanan, Vixy, vocals; Tony, guitar; Mary, piano; Betsy, cello; Amy, fiddle.)
8. "Tanglewood Tree." Dave Carter cover. (Seanan, Vixy, vocals; Tony, guitar; Betsy, cello; Amy, fiddle; Brenda, bodhran.)
9. "Wicked Girls Saving Ourselves." (Seanan, Vixy, vocals; Tony, guitar; Mary, piano; Betsy, cello; Amy, fiddle; Brenda, bodhran.)
10. "My Story Is Not Done." (Seanan, Vixy, vocals; Tony, guitar; Mary, piano; Betsy, cello; Amy, fiddle; Brenda, bodhran.)

ENCORE:

1. "The Seal Skin and the Story and the Sky." Arrangement as above; we did it again for Cat Valente, who had missed the start of the set.
2. "Archetype Cafe." Talis Kimberley cover. (Seanan, Vixy, vocals; Tony, guitar; Mary, piano; Betsy, cello; Amy, fiddle.)

I did not actually get a written copy of the "Wicked Girls" bridge. I'm sorry! But I'm sure it was lovely.

As always: "Counting Crows," "Mama Said," "The Ghost of Lilly Kane," "Tanglewood Tree," "My Story Is Not Done," and "Wicked Girls Saving Ourselves" are on Wicked Girls. "Still Catch the Tide" is on Stars Fall Home (out of print). "Dear Gina" is on Red Roses and Dead Things.

"Archetype Cafe" appears on Talis Kimberley's album of the same name, currently available on CD Baby. "Tanglewood Tree" also appears on the Dave Carter and Tracy Grammar album of the same name, currently available from retailers everywhere.

"The Seal Skin and the Story and the Sky" and "Dare to Dream" have not yet been recorded.

Huge thanks to the sound crew, to the Chicon 7 filk programming department, and to all my wonderful musicians, who uplift me to a level I could never reach without them. I am honored, I am grateful, and I am going back to bed.

Excellent as always! I wish I'd had time to make rocketship cookies for the entire Squeecast group, or to do more than wave at you in passing. Pre-con chaos, con chaos, general chaos. Congrats on the non-edible rocketship!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cookies.
Yay creepy vocals !
Yes!
Congratulations on the squeecast hugo and I hope that you perform in London in 2014 as i have joined already...
Thank you, and I'm surely hoping to!
"Mama said" is still my favorite song from the album. I am seriously considering getting a tattoo of the words:

Don't be chosen, make the choice to choose.

It is how I want to live my life.
That makes me happy.
"Dear Gina" was awesomely creepy!
I had to explain the 'Bucket of Creepy' thing to the puzzled guys behind me

It was a great concert.

I know that the poison berries line was Ronnie, but other than that, I forget. However, someone behind me let out a profound, shuddering "Wow." after hearing "Dare to Dream", which made me happy.
Mia weaves, and Amy makes music is all I remember

The concert was wonderful! Dear Gina always gives me the heebie jeebies =)

By the way, on facebook, one of the ads for Barnes & Noble said "Like the Dresden Files? Try Seanan McGuire's Toby Daye stories" or something like that - with a pic of Toby and link to click on.
That. Is. AWESOME.
It was an absolutely fabulous concert with bonus extra crispy creepy!
Yay!

EDIT: Should have clicked the link for the lyrics first. Yes yes yes!

It was an awesome set. So glad to have seen it.
I'm so glad you were there.
I'm glad you enjoyed the convention, the concert sounds great and one day I'd love to see you perform live. Congratulations to you and the rest of the Squeecasters on winning the Hugo.
Thank you!
You were awesome - but will you accept a small friendly correction . I think this was generally numbered as Chicon 7 although I would totally accept that you travelled back to 1962 to Chicon III

I had a brilliant mail delivery today. My copies of Ashes Of Honor and Wicked Girls arrived!
Yay!
Congrats on the Hugo! And the sound crew loves working your concerts (and always will) - Tom (our union guy who was working the board with me) was very impressed overall. I told him he would enjoy it, and he did.
That makes me very happy.
Thank you and your amazing musicians for a wonderful concert!Especially given your somewhat over full schedule. Always a great pleasure to hear you in person.
And again you give me too much honour - I thank you, and my songs thank you, and my muse thanks you and probably takes yours out for tapas, cocktails, and a no-holds-barred bitch session on managing their human clients.

So very proud of you, dear heart!

Talis
You do us an honor by letting us cover your songs. And our muses are totally drinking buddies.

All love to you and yours, always.
Great concert, and glad i could stay for vixy & tony after. Any chance of releasing Stars Fall Home as a download? I have all the rest as CDs, but given the costs of producing physical copies i figure electronic is my only hope for that material.
Nope, no chance.

I'm going to be doing a Kickstarter to re-print the CD this year, with a new song and remastered tracks. I can't afford that if I do digital downloads, y'know?
