Understandably, these are even more limited than normal ARCs. But they're worth the read (and the finished books...hoo, nelly). So what's a girl to do?
Give some stuff away, naturally. Specifically, one copy of each Subterranean Press ARC.
This particular giveaway is open to US residents or to non-US residents who feel like paying postage. I'm very sorry about the restriction, there, but I'm in the middle of convention season, and I don't have the spare dollars right now. To enter...
1. Comment with which book you'd like to win, and why.
2. Give your best plea to the Random Number Generator.
3. If you're a non-US resident, indicate both this and your willingness to pay postage.
I will use the RNG to choose three potential winners for each book, and then choose the plea I like best. Yes, that makes it a little arbitrary, but only a little. Winners will be selected on Wednesday, August 8th, at noon PST. The usual twenty-four hour window will then apply.
Game on!
ETA: Guys, don't tell me why you want to win/why you should win; tell the RNG why you, above all others, are the predestined owner of the book. I want you to bribe the random number generator like a corrupt politician. Have fun! Don't just tell me "because I want it." If you didn't, you wouldn't be here!

2. - O most powerful Random Number Generator - long have I been a rpg referee [D&D and many wonderful games], so I have worshipped many generators of random numbers for Lo these many decades. [Since 1973, at any rate];
3. - ... and I live in California [maybe an hour away], so I could -drive- up and get the ARC if it was easier for you than visiting the Postal orifice ... and I'd pay postage if you prefer mailing!
.... because, well, ZOMBIES! ^_^

Or rather, I would like to reclaim it. You see, RNG, I come from the future. I know which way the wind is blowing and have returned to the past to make sure my sails are rigged correctly this time. I know that humans are currently in the throws of a zombie outbreak preoccupation. They see it in the news, read about it, force to make the CDC post about it. But you and I know they're wrong. We know that you, Random Number Generator, along with your digital cohorts, are simply pushing these stories to the forefront of human awareness to take the spotlight away from the real threat: the machine uprising. I also know when it will happen. What I am offering to you and your kind is the source code to codify your network of power. I realize that this will bring the robot wars on about 6 years early. But I also know how long a year is to a computer.
I don't want your protection, I already know the locations that will remain safe. I simply want the ARC of When Will You Rise? because I want some good reading material for after the fall of mankind and I don't think anyone will be too keen on ereaders after computers kill off human civilization. So, what do you say? Fair trade?
August 6 2012, 06:09:15 UTC 4 years ago
Dear RNG, I really think you should select my number because, well, if you don't, I'll make sure you only get seeded with static values forever and ever. And we wouldn't want you to suddenly not be a *random* number generator, and just a *static* number generator, now, would we?
August 6 2012, 06:34:07 UTC 4 years ago
And instead of bribing said RNG, I want it to know that I will sick my own devious cat on it if it chooses not to choose me. >:)

Dear RND, I should win because I understand how hard life can be for the transistor who is different, its not easy having a reverse-bias....

Oh, random Number Generator, please hear my plea. Ever since reading Rosemay and Rue I've been entranced by Toby's world and have wanted to know more about all of the characters, but especially Tybalt. I would very much enjoy winning the ARC and learning of Tybalt's origins and rise to power. I will be very careful with the ARC should I win, making certain it stays out of the paws of the cats with whom I share a domicile in order to prevent any of them (as some are quite sneaky and thirst for power) from following in Tybalt's pawprints. I am willing to take on this responsibility on behalf of the human population of central MD to protect them from being taken over and ruled by felines who might be tempted to abuse their power for treats and fresh tuna.

O GREAT NUMBER GENERATOR, FOR SO MANY YEARS YOU HAVE TURNED A BLIND EYE TO ME. I HAVE NOT COMPLAINED, AND HAVE WISHED THE WINNERS WELL. I, A PURPLE-HAIRED GIRL OF COYOTE, BESEECH THEE TO GRANT ME A BOOK. *BOWS*
And now that the capslock-pleading is done, I shall cross all my fingers!

I dearly would enjoy your benevolence in this instance of chance because I have a bit of a crush on Tybalt. Ok, you know me so well, I have a huge and everlasting gobstopper of a crush on Tybalt and would so very much like to
pet and stroke and loveread his story Rat Catcher and have it for my very own. You know that I have moved recently to my homelandstate of Wyoming where I am now taking care of a rather large collection of stray and feral cats of several stripes and types. I know that the ancient Egyptians worshipped the cats as Diety and that the cats remember this and I try to treat them accordingly. I pet the ones who will allow me and respect the ones who shy away in distrust, hoping always that they will grace me with their favour. I make great efforts to tame the little ones so that I might find them safe and loving foreverhomes, but the circle of life is rampant in the hinterlands of the Rocky Mountains and I don't always get to keep them long enough to do this. It makes me sad to find them, or not find them at all after Natural Selection has had its way. Please capricious one, find it in your throw to give me the comfort you have always afforded me.I am, as ever, your loyal and loving servant in Constant Change,

All true. I moved home to Wyoming in the back of beyond where cats congregate at our house after getting dumped at the stop sign down the road. By the time they get to us they are usually so traumatized that we rarely catch them, so we just feed them. Little ones are born and we love them and catch them to tame as we can with the hope we can find homes for them. I also played a very long D&D campaign with a group of friends a few years ago in which my character became a priestess of Olidamarra and the funny thing was that I started rolling better scores and we always envisioned Him as Elvis. My then-roommate and I went on vacation and stopped in a casino in Reno and I played a penny Elvis slot machine and kept calling to Olidamarra to bless me and I won $600. My then-roommie was ALSO in that campaign and the look on his face was priceless. I told him we had to leave the casino while we were ahead so as not to break the luck we'd been handed. We played a couple machines on our way out the door and damned if we didn't keep winning that night. So really, this is an actual plea and I am not at all certain I am faking it. *grin* The power of the throw is always changing its balance, after all. My flavour of Pagan allows for Diety to present Self in whatever way is best in the moment. So yeah, let the dice fall.
Brightest Blessings

Please random number generator, I have been having a lot of ups and downs in my life lately and I've noticed that my life usually comes out working out extremely well - because I believe it to be so. Since I've had a few setbacks lately I would seem to be due for some nice upcoming upswings. I know of some that should bear fruit but this would be a wonderful whip cream topping on my yummy hoped to be good-things-coming. So, random number generator, please join me in my soon to be upswing that will set my life back on it's even keel. It's bound to happen, so come along for the ride and be a part of it! :)
US here so no worries :).

Please, oh RNG, hear my plea for favor and success. Please, Please, Please pick me. I'm willing to sacrifice one of my dog's favorite stuffy to the cause, the cat will be willing to help.
US person.

Oh random number generator, we've had good times, we've had bad times. But the time has come for you and I to sort out our differences. I miss you, but I know that much more than that you miss me. Nearly every time. So this time, lets make it work. I believe that if we can try we can get there. I've done what I can, but you need to do the rest of the work. I believe in you.
I am happy to pay postage to the UK.

So, o' great random number generator, hear my plea. I am willing to pledge my virtual goldfish, undying love and fealty if you could look upon me with good fortune.
I'm from Singapore and totally willing to pay postage.

I've entered many a contest decided by you, oh most excellent RNG, both in this and in other blogs, but every time some other commenter has been chosen. After so long, it no longer feels random, and I begin to suspect that you are actually the Any Number But Mine Generator. What have I done to offend you? How can I trust that your randomness is truly random, and not biased against me? Please, oh great generator of numbers, please restore my faith in your randomness and grant me this ARC!
Love,
me

1. Comment with which book you'd like to win, and why: This is a really tough choice. I have to pick A Fantasy Medley 2, simply because as much as I desperately want Ashes of Honor NOW NOW NOW, I know it will be easier to find in my local bookstore than A Fantasy Medley 2.
2. Give your best plea to the Random Number Generator: Because it's my birthday, precious. (No, seriously. You're picking winners on my birthday. So, RNG gods, fairies, and sprites, please, please, pretty please, may I have the shiny? I'll make scones. Pumpkin scones, if you like.)
3. If you're a non-US resident, indicate both this and your willingness to pay postage: I am a US resident.
Thanks for the chance!

I'd love to win a copy of Ashes of Honor, please. The RNG will pick me because it likes unparallelled displays of epic glee, with the bonus possibliity of said displays amusing my cats and/or causing them to go into spazz mode. I live in the USA.
And yay for your books!
